5/5 Stars
I wasn't prepared for the pounding downhill running causes. Had to bail at mile 22.
No
Great!
Completed the Chicsgo Marathon a month before and didn't think I needed to train much. Should of trained downhill.
Train downhill.
Commuted day of.
Lastly, the aid stations didn't have petroleum jelly for chafing.?
The first few didn't.
Very hard!!! But very rewarding when I hit the finish line!
I've never ran a race this long so this is a number to start from.
Loved it! The hills hurt my feet and the slant was hard to run on. But it was a beautiful course with nice scenery!
I didn't have much time to train. I have an 8 month old son and a 1 1/2 year old and two other children at home. So I didn't have much tI me to train. I did it go start my running game because I did run a lot prior to having my two boys.
Train and try to wear the least amount of clothes as possible.
All of it was a great experience and everyone was really nice. I didn't expect it to be such a big event.
I want to do it again next year
it was great but tough race for me. The volunteers are awesome!
unfortunately, no! :( last year was better
It is a fast course but need to run this very smart. Not really happy with the change of the last mile course.
I didn't train enough on a down hill course
Run it smart. don't go too fast on the first half coz the second half is more tougher; more hills!
got up early at 3:30am to get ready for race, was dropped off at shuttles by 4:30am, arrived at start line at 6am. I really liked how water, blankets and gloves were readily available at the start line. VERY HELPFUL
no unfortunately I cramped at mile 15. My only complaint was that the 3:05 pacer was not at the start line. I was hoping to stick with the 3:05 pace group.
first 15 miles downhill, miles 15-21 long rolling hills, miles 21-finish flat
60-70 miles per week
Bring sunglasses and maybe even a hat, the sun is right in your face at times during the race. Wear running clothes for warm weather because it heats up quick. Wear warmer layers on top to keep you warm in the morning. Throw the extra layers in the drop bag before race start.
after: visited pasadena downtown
Overall great race- the rolling hills after mile 15 are very tough. Only complaint was absent 3:05 pacer.
What a beautiful course!!! My first marathon... everything I had within me to finish .. a true learning experience
well since it was my first anything except a DNF would have been a PR. Did I BQ?? ROTFLOLOLO
The course is super fast at first. I made the mistake of thinking because we could just talk we weren't running too fast.... bad move. It's not all down hill... here are substantial uphills... but the course is fair, beautiful, and the aid stations well stocked and manned.
I was going up to 40-45 miles a week.. 4 weeks before the race I developed plantar fasciitis and that really derailed my training.
START SLOW.. START SLOW...START SLOW.. and don't expect all down hill. ..know the up hills are coming.
I drove up right before and left after the race .. so nothing there
What a beautiful course.. wonderful people volunteering at the event... and the organizational aspects were well done. This is not a walk in the park and the down hill wears on the body. I highly recommend this.
Beautiful course - loved running through the mountains. Race was well organized from bib pick up to finish area.
YesBeat my best time by 10 minutes and accomplished my goal of breaking 3 hours
downhill but definitely some hills
I do walk/run and work out on daily basis.
I would do this course again. Was cold in the morning, but they provided mylar blanket and gloves. Bag drop off was convenient so I could drop off additional clothing.
Not much as my friend got injured and we had to spend time in medical tent. We are local.
Well organized race!! Would definitely recommend it to others.
Great race
i
It was fun to run downhill. I also loved the view of the forest. I also met a lot of really nice Runner's and enjoyed the finish line area.
No but I was just running the race for fun. I still got a really good time.
I thought it was really good I like that there were hills. I thought it was all down hill so I was a little aprahensive to run it. It was a great course.
I would put more miles in just was running this one for fun.
Dress warm you can always check your gear in at the bag check in.
I live in Orange County so I am a local.
Just awesome, from picking up the bags ,the ride, the course, water ,the food ,the results, all excellent
Yes I did less time than my last half marathon, but this was my first revel half marathon ,I don't know how you get qualified for the Boston Marathon but I did 1:22:39 (6:18)per mile
Beautiful scenery really love it ,going down hills makes you run a little faster the problem is when you get to the flat part jaja after all it was great
Actually I trained in many diferente areas so I was kind of prepared for that
Get long sleeve shirt and gloves, and watch your speed going down hill that may kill you the last 3 miles,
Just after race a couple cute selfies with my medal, enjoying the food and of course one deserved beer
Race day was awesome. I love talking to people on the course about their marathon career and how long they have been running.
Yes I did pr. I prd by 55 minutes since my last marathon was 4 years ago. I am not able to qualify for Boston because I am under 18 but when I get to that age my hopes are high. Wish I could set a new pr in the Rockies but I don't run on Sundays.
Deceptive. It was my brothers first marathon and he just wanted to go faster on the downhill section then died on the rollers. I loved it it was super fast, beautiful, kind of too steep up top but awesome.
I did not long distance train at all. My last marathons I did but on this one I only did cross country in highschool. I did well but could do a lot better with some training over 12 miles.
Don't overestimate a marathon. The question is not "Am I going to finish?" It is "How fast will I finish in?" Also train for the downhill because my feet were very far forward in my shoes and I am not used to that. It's the first time I've had blisters in a long time.
My brother came down from Utah to run this with me and we both went home and got in a heated spa with jets, it was amazing.
4/5 Stars
I thought the exacution of the race was excellent. For a race that's only a few years old I saw no kinks from my point of view.
Sure, it was my first full marathon.
Very steep! Hard on my knees but beautiful. Overall I liked it.
Not long enough. Could of used about to more months of training. Signed up in late August after not running all summer after my last half marathon in May.
Prepare for 26.2 miles downhill, so points steep.
Drank a beer. I recommend in the future you prepare more food for slower runner. Barely any food left when I finished and no food left when brother finished about 20 minutes behind me. Perhaps limit people to only one or two servings like beer tokens.
