4/5 Stars
Had a little trouble getting parked - the buses were more organized this year. Lots of portable toilets, the gloves and blankets were oerfect. Traffic seemed busier and at one point we were at single file running down the course. Plenty of water stations
Not this time -
Beautiful - different type of course, lots of rolling hills - not ALL down hill.
I have not been able to train as much as needed - but highly recommend quad work and hill practice
Quad work, foot strength, calves and lots of hill training, wear layers, leave earlier than planned.
We ate lemon pie at the finish line!! Just live down in Anaheim so not much of a commute
It was a beautiful day. Me and my friend came up early in the morning to pick up our race packages. It was nice and easy. At the start area it was cold but very addictive nice surroundings. The start of the race was also very smooth. All the energy gel was gone by the time us marathoners came to the water stations!! It must have been taken by the half marathon runners. That's the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5.
Yes I PR! Well, I PR with 4 minutes but that was compared to 25 yeas ago!!! If I compare my resent times I PR with 10 minutes. I qualified for Boston with 26 minutes to spare. I am very happy.
I was surprised about the quit long up hills at the second half of the marathon. It didn't really show up on the map that was showed on the website. But no complaints it was a nice change from all the downhill during the first part of the marathon
I trained downhills at the gym on a treadmill and I did weight training
Train down hill running!! Very important
I went straight home I traveled from Anaheim Hills
This is first time run marathon at the mountain.
Very nice.
I did lunge and hill training.
light wear clothing is better to run. Uphill is as fast as you can and downhill as slow as possiblewithout knee pain.
I came from La Canada.
Everything was nice to me. Thank you so much.
good

From start to finish you guys did a great job- did it last year so I would say the start line at the 1/2 was slightly disorganized -did not even realize we had started as there was no National Anthem-and as always it is freezing at the start line so anything you could do ( tents) would help- starting to run on frozen feet is not fun
no- but did not try- having too much fun!
beautiful, quiet very zen- not happy with the hill you thew in right at the finish
this was my 11th 1/2 this year
your race your pace
none- I went home- I live in Glendale
will do again
Had a blast helping runners meet there goal of 4:25. Beautiful views and couldn't have asked for better weather! A huge thank you to all the wonderful volunteers! Revel Rocks!!!! I met so many new running friends and that's why I like to pace.
I was your 4:25 Pacer. I came in at 4:24:32 awesome day! Last year I BQ'D running 3:23:54 but this year I wanted to give something back to the runners meeting their goal.
Awesome Views and great downhills with small short ups and than flat for the last few miles! This course is the perfect one to run a BQ and PR!
For me this was my 49 Marathon of the year. So im kind of a bad example right now because i dontt train when i run week to week marathons. What I would advise runners is to not only train running 45 to 50 miles a week for 8 weeks to get in shape. But incorporate downhill training and uphill training but focusing on the downhill more. Speed work should help with keeping the pace. What worked well for me running many many marathons this year.
Fly in early so you can drive the course and strategies how you plan to attack the course. Get your host hotel early and close to the finish and bus pick up for the morning of the marathon On top of the Canyon it's colder because of the higher elavavtion so bring a Jacket and sweat pants to stay warm before the run. They have drop bags/gear check so no worries. Also if you want to wear a long sleeve shirt to start the race that's great they will pick them up along the route.
I stayed with some friends and had a great time! I traveled from EL Paso TX 14hr car drive happy me.
Amazing!!! Definitely running this one again.
No. :-( but I did BQ.
Downhill with a handful of hills that I wasn't prepared for.
Unfortunately, I have to train a great deal on the treadmill. I do long runs along the coast on the weekends.
Don't give up.
We ate! :-)
The course is really beautifull . The fesh air and the amazing view make this marathon really especial
I made my personal record
Very beautiful. It is fast but not easy. Down hill cole bring a lot of pain if you dont train rigth
70 km per week. My advice is In your trainnig add at least one day of down hill In the week
Great
Yes
Tranquil
2000 miles this year and prepped at MCM
Don't think the course is easy. It's fast, but there's enough elevation in the middle to keep you honest and the course itself beats you up. If you are within 10 mins of a BQ time on a tough couse you can get what you want, but you aren't going to BQ just by showing up.
I flew in and out, but did get to have a beer and watch some football
It was great to see my marathon friends out on the course.
No, I did not PR. My training was not great going into the race, but I did enjoy the course very much. I will be back!
GORGEOUS! It is an absolutely beautiful course.
I will do more speed work. Ok, honestly, I will do speed work. I will also do downhill speed work. My quads are shot today.
The weather was awesome.
Nothing!
This was my first Half Narathon. I was excited and nervous and then we were off. I wasn't expecting quite so many steep inclines but I kept putting one foot in front of the other and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. I loved reading and laughing at the encouragement signs along the way. The water and aid stations were well thought out and the people at them were so encouraging. I will never forget this day.
This was my first one, so no.
It has beautiful scenery and a lot of steep hills.
I trained to run intervals and kept to a half marathon training schedule. If I do this race in the future I will train more uphill as that was my struggle.
Dress in layers because it is cold at the top and warm at the bottom.
I traveled from the high desert (VictorValley). We met up with our group, took pictures, and encouraged each other as we had varying levels of participants.
As your first race, you *did* PR ;-) That's now your time to beat!
