5/5 Stars
Mile 3 I gave up, the hill won, I walked as knowing PR and BQ were out. I walked with all the forward motion I could get. My heart broke, this was going to be a dismal failure. I just kept pushing, I could not stop myself from pushing. Mile 24 I realized I might just barely BQ. Mile 24 it hit me I might BQ with enough cushion to get in. Mile 26 was brutal, walk/run to finish.
PR yes about 20 minutesBQ yes by a little over 5 minutes
4 miles of suffering,21 miles of flying,1 mile of ( my body saying not runnin), but the course being pretty flat. .2 miles of sprintable finish.
Flatlander 6 to 10 miles most daysI far exceeded my expectations
Just survive first 4 miles, than go for it, it's a fast course. Expect to hurt for a few days after.

I was on record pace until I injured my Achilles. Hobbled in to finishing line nonetheless.

I really liked it!!

Train train
Biked & visited local national parks, museum.
first of the view was beautiful the climate the course was just perfect. I felt I was going to run an ultra at the starting line. perfect aid station I loved it! there are few things to improve but until then you have 4 stars. I will be back next time for sure.
No, I did not because I have something else going on while preparing myself for training season. But I got an excellent time without any training. I almost BQ nine seconds to spare :(
ridiculous fast!! excellent not much to say other than dam fast. oh and the pictures are awesome. tons of them.
I did have any kind of training at all :)
training is a key to run and complete this awesome race.
I was there for a quick stop, but check in some restaurants were my friends and I dine in. Hopefully next time we go with more time to spend around and check the town.
This event was well organized from start to finish.
Loved the course, free race photos, finish time printout, massage, gloves, Mylar blanket and more.
I beat my previous best of 1:53 for a half marathon by 7 minutes.
Beautiful scenery ... fast downhill course.
Nothing out of the ordinary.
Incorporate some down-hill repeats as part of your training for this event.
Met with friends and visited/hiked Saguaro National Park.
Started a bit slower than usual; but picked it up in the second half. I loved the views from the course and the fact that so much of it was downhill. I knew I was trashing my quads, but I didn't care. It was worth it. I could see quite a bit of the course ahead of me & the people running it.
No, because my PR is from 1993 & I'm a lot older now. However, I did run under 4 hours, so I was happy about that.
A lot downhill, but not all of it. It was beautiful; one of my favorite races ever. I loved the rock formations.
I train at altitude, but I really hadn't done as much distance training as I usually do, because I hate to give up hiking to do long runs. Instead, I did a lot of long hikes. It turned out all right for me, but I do recommend training on downhills. I was sore for a week after this race.
Respect the distance, even though it is downhill. Give it all you've got, and have fun.
We went to Green Valley to visit a friend, and went to Nogales, Mexico with her on Friday. We enjoyed the bike path that was very close to the hotel, and went for runs before the race, and a walk afterwards. We also ate at several restaurants. We came from Estes Park, CO.
I hadn't run that fast in 10 years so most of the day was spent dying in our Bnb ;) lol
I went from a pr time of 2:09 to a new record of 1:46 and I did it in less than a week, we ran la rock n roll and revel canyon city before Lemmon.
Hard to say, I was pretty focused on the road at he time but it seemed like quiet a view from where we were.
I don't train. I rock climb and hike in the winter and free dive in the summer and just show up to he runs when it's time.
Train. Carry water and utilize nutritional supplements such as GU or cliff. Check the weather and use thrift store clothing to keep warm.

Watching the sun rise on mt Lemmon was beautiful
Yes. I believe I cut off 10+ mins from my marathon time!
Oh it's downhill with a great fast flat 2 mile finish. None of that uphill at the end of a race while your legs are dead crap. Beautiful desert scenery.
I did Portland marathon this year and just tried to recover. Train your quads!!
The bus ride is an hour- pack something to eat/drink
Flew in from Denver. Gotta love cheap AZ outlet malls
It was so much fun! I enjoyed watching all of my team mates cross the finish line the most but the scenery of Mt. Lemon is beautiful. The race was well organized and the announcer got all of our names right as we crossed the line:)
My PR was 2.5 hours and I beat it by 25 minutes.
The course if fast and fun!
The only training advise I would give is do lots of leg strengthening exercises, the day after a 13.2 mile run down a mountain is quite painful. I will be doing that for my next one.
Go have fun!
We volunteered at packet pick up which we all enjoyed. I think it really helped the new runners build their confidence for the race. All of the other racers were super nice and encouraging. We came down from Phoenix.
Beautiful course with lots of attention to detail. I appreciated the aid stations that were well spaced and the nice volunteers. Though it would have been nice to have coffee at the finish line since the location was very remote.
No but wasn’t trying to.
Very scenic and a nice gradual downhill.
Training? Oh yeah... we’ll just trained normally. Should have done more downhill.
Practice running downhill. Pace yourself. Save it till the end.
Went to Downtown for dinner. But mostly just used it as an R&R weekend.
it was a great and fast Run!Amazing views !
yes
easy and scenic
Hope you guys can do the race again in Tucson
