Description

  • Marathon

The REVEL Aspen Limited Edition marathon course offers the best of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, including breathtaking views of the forests and peaks of the pristine White River National Forest. Runners will enjoy the fresh scent of mountain air, glimpses of forest wildlife, and the charm of the Snowmass Village resort town. If that were not enough, the course is downhill on a paved path and is a Boston Marathon qualifier!

The marathon begins at the bottom of the Snowmass Village Mall, right in the middle of the famous resort town. Standing at over 8,500 feet above sea level surrounded by towering pines and aspens, runners will experience the sunrise in one of the most stunning locations in North America.

The course begins with a strong downhill grade of 3.37% over the first 6.5 miles as runners head down the beautiful Brush Creek Trail. The Brush Creek Trail is a wide, paved, pedestrian-only path and is a runner's paradise.

After crossing under Highway 82, the course connects onto the Aspen Mass Trail and has a short but steep hill climb (140 ft over half a mile) to get up to the Rio Grande Trail connection. This climb is the only significant uphill portion of the entire route.

Once connected onto the Rio Grande Trail (another wide, paved, pedestrian-only path), runners will remain on that trail the entire way to the finish line, enjoying an even downhill grade of 1.23% for the remainder of the race.

As they make their way down the mountain, runners will parallel the path of the Roaring Fork River. As the course progresses down the mountain, the scenery gradually changes from Peaks and ridgelines to mesas and pastures.

Shortly before reaching Carbondale, the route turns off of the Rio Grande Trail to end at the Nordic Gardens property off of County Rd 100.

REVEL Aspen is one of the fastest and most beautiful marathons in the country!

The half marathon begins in Snowmass, exactly 13.1 miles below the marathon start line. Standing at nearly 7,000 feet above sea level surrounded by towering pines and aspens, runners will experience the sunrise in one of the most stunning locations in North America.

The entire half marathon course takes place on the Rio Grande Trail, which is a wide, paved, pedestrian-only path that is a runner's paradise. There are no significant uphill portions of the route, and runners will enjoy an even downhill grade of 1.23% for the entire race.
