bike escalator lift in trondheim norway cyclocable (13)

While poking around the internet the other day I found an article about a bike escalator in the city of Trondheim, Norway. There is a hill (only one!?) in the city that is big and steep enough to discourage its residents from using bicycles as a form of transportation.

To encourage its residents to ride the city installed a CycloCable, a 427 ft long bike escalator. In the 22 years it has been in operation it has taken more than 300,000 people to the top of the hill known as Brubakken.

It can take up to six cyclists at a time, and pushes you up the hill about 5 mph. I can think of a few hills I would LOVE to see a bike escalator on.
