Steady Start, Variable Mid-Section Performance Melissa Lin maintained a consistent start with even pacing in the first two miles, each completed in 7:09. Her overall pace began to decline by the third mile, moving to 7:27, and continued on a downward trend throughout the race. She achieved her best division rank by the second mile, placing 13th in the F30-34 category. The first half of the race saw her pacing as low as 7:14, keeping her competitive among the top 80 female runners. However, from mile 5 onward, her pace began to fluctuate more significantly, with splits consistently above 8:30 per mile. Notably, her pace at mile 8 dropped to 9:35, which may have impacted her overall efficiency. Despite the slower pace in later miles, Melissa managed to complete the half marathon with an average overall pace of 8:41 min/mile. Encouragement should be given to focus on maintaining even pacing in the latter portion of future races.
