  1. Overall Rating

    4/5 Stars

  2. Describe your race day.

The race from mile 4 on was scenic and fairly easy. With the small number of participants, I felt like I was running alone at times.

  3. Did you PR?

I did not PR but I did BQ by 15+ minutes.

  4. How would you describe the course?

The uphill over 3 of the first 4 miles at altitude was difficult and relatively slow. The next 21 miles were an easy, fast downhill. The scenery over the first 25 miles is wonderful. Although more scenic, I found the course to be slower than the Revel Canyon City and Revel Mt. Charleston courses.

  5. Tell us about your training.

I trained on the Revel Canyon City course for 3 of my long runs so I was prepared for the sustained downhill.

  6. What advice would you give future runners?

Be prepared for the uphill at altitude at the start and put in the mileage on downhill runs in training so that you are prepared for the 21 miles of sustained downhill.

  7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We came in from LA a couple of days early and toured Tucson and the surrounding area.
