  2. Describe your race day.

The race started at 6:30 AM from 6,000 Feet. It was expected to get up to 89 degrees in Tucson so I under dressed and it was cold up there. The race director came over to me and asked if I was cold and said to go sit in the cab of the bag truck. It was great and I didn’t have to waste my energy shivering. I was determined to start off slow and gradually pick up speed which I was able to do.

  3. Did you PR?

No I had done a 1:37 at the Big Cottonwood Half but I came close with a 1:38

  4. How would you describe the course?

It was great downhill most of the course. There were a whole lot of turns and the road surface was not always smooth. Since we ran on the right side of the road there was a lot of camber that you couldn't avoid. Also you could not use the tangents which may have increase the actual distance covered.

  5. Tell us about your training.

I used RunCoach an online training program and added 3 downhill runs down the Santa Fe Ski Basin. I kept these short under 10 miles each.

  6. What advice would you give future runners?

Don't overrun the course just because you can. I notice some runners had and this hurt them at the end. Keep your speed down for the first couple of miles.

  7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

It was nice to have friends who also signed up. We were able to eat dinner the night prior and lunch together after the race. We all traveled from New Mexico I flew out the Santa Fe.
