  2. Describe your race day.

My race day was so amazingly smooth and perfect. I woke up at 3AM ready to give my all for 13.1 miles and I did just that. I still have a runners high from this race! This was by far my favorite course as it was so incredibly scenic and the views were breathtaking all the way down the canyon.

  3. Did you PR?

    Yes! I PR'd by 2 minutes and 39 seconds in the half-marathon.

  4. How would you describe the course?

Gorgeous, breathtaking....the views on the way down the mountain were so incredible. I wish I could have taken pictures but I can't run fast and take pics.

  5. Tell us about your training.

Originally I was using this half as a fitness test so I could see where I am as I head into marathon training. I didn't really train for the half like I normally would. I did 6 weeks of workouts as I was coming back to running after a few months off. I do live in a hilly area so most of my runs were done on hills which helps big time on a course like this. My training runs for this race were not that great, I struggled a lot and I really wasn't sure what would happen at Mt. Lemmon.

  6. What advice would you give future runners?

Get to the bus loading area EARLY as there is one road in and out and it was crazy to get into the parking area. As far as training goes, train on hills! This is super important for any revel race. Also, strength training in your pre-season is crucial so you can build up your leg strength- 2-3 days a week. I say pre-season because once you start adding mileage, it can be hard to keep up with strength so I would recommend keeping 1-2 days of strength leading up to your race.
