    2. Describe your race day.

After training around 40 degrees for about 3 months and a half, running in such a cold weather made the race more challenging and exciting!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes, this is my second half marathon. The first one I did 2:20 and at this race I did 2:03! I was expecting either 2:10 or 2:15 so this was a huge accomplishment for me!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Great view! The elevation and cold made it hard to breath but as you keep going, you get warmer and gravity becomes a very good friend.

    5. Tell us about your training.

It doesn't matter if you skip a day or two to rest! It won't mess up with your physical condition. Sometimes your brain and body need time to heal. But always go back no matter what!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Search about previous reviews of the race you're doing.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Eating and having a beer are priority no. 1 after a good race!

    2. Describe your race day.

Very well done by race organizers. Nice busses for the long ride and having an indoor waiting area was the best thing ever! Even with the delayed start time I didn’t mind because I was comfortable.

    3. Did you PR?

No, but it was my fastest marathon since 2010. I was about 12 minutes off my PR but I comfortably BQd

    4. How would you describe the course?

Scenic and fun. I even enjoyed the climbs although they take a good 5 minutes off your race time.

    5. Tell us about your training.

More downhill training although I did do a fair bit.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Run the first 4 miles comfortably and then start racing at the pace you trained for which means you will end up about 5 minutes slower than that pace.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Came in for Lake Havasu City. We just enjoyed some restaurants, shopping, and the nice weather.

    2. Describe your race day.

Back up of traffic to get into parking area, but it was handled well. Smooth ride up the mountain and sweet run down. All went well :) I didn't see bananas though, must of missed the fruit stop this year.

    3. Did you PR?

      Not this time

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Beautiful, breezy and fast

    5. Tell us about your training.

Didn't do any this time, life got in the way

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

The last 1.1 miles stinks. You're so use to going down the flat hurts!!

    2. Describe your race day.

4.5 I thought everything was perfect, except a couple of things. First when the marathon started, no one knew that it had, until people started running. I think it might of been the siren from the Police Truck that stated things, however no one really knew, so a stad confusing at that point. The hotels had no shuttles set up. Hoping that as things get bigger and they will, that something like that is set up. I'm one of the owners of Shu's Idaho Running Company here in Boise, know that I'm going to be talking you all up.......

    3. Did you PR?

No, had a PW. however only because my knee locked up. That's "ALL ON MIKE!"

    4. How would you describe the course?

Tough, with the altitude and the hills at the beginning made it rough, challenging, but really beautiful the whole way.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Ran a couple 20 miler log run, just not enough down hills. Here in Boise we have a ski resort that is 16 miles up, made for a couple nice down hill training runs, just not enough.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Run Down Hill! At least a couple 20 milers.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Didn't really have enough time, next time that will change. Traveled from Boise Idaho

    2. Describe your race day.

Parking took longer than expected, which would be my only warning to other runners. It took 25 minutes to park, which made me concerned about missing the shuttle for the marathon. Thankfully, I made the last one. Other than that, everything was organized well, the slightly later start on the marathon was no big deal to me and completely understandable. It was also nice that they waited to start so everyone could get settled and use the rest rooms.

    3. Did you PR?

I did not, unfortunately but it was my second best time. Stomach issue lead to a long bathroom break. If that wouldn’t have happened, I would have nailed it.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful course. The first 4 miles were probably the most challenging of any of the 18 marathons i’ve Run due to the elevation and hills, including the incline hill that lasted about 2 miles between mile 2 and 4. After that, the course is very fast but all of it is beautiful and inspiring. I would run this again for sure.

    5. Tell us about your training.

A lot of training went into this but not enough downhills training. This was my 4th marathon this year so my training has been very fluent throughout the year. I do need to incorporate more downhill running into my training and will in the future.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

The weather at the top was in the low to mid thirties and the finish line weather was in the mid 70’s so prepare accordingly. If you have thin blood, bring clothing with you that you can shed as you go. Blisters are a real issue for downhill running if you’re underprepared, due to the different type of stepping. This was my 18th marathon and I definitely have the worst blisters of my life, my fault of course, should have prepared better. Practice, practice, practice downhill running. I do some training for downhill running but not enough and my body definitely feels the difference. The first 4 miles of this course are tough and absolutely no joke so if you’re able to prepare by doing some altitude running, it would greatly benefit you, take in a count that you’re starting at 8000 feet. Do not power run this unless you have experience, it would be best to keep a comfortable pace and let gravity help your speed on the way down. I saw many runners who powered past me early on having a hard time later, some sick and many were walking from miles 19 on. There’s pretty much full sun exposure from mile 15 on, so a hat would help greatly. Overconfidence on this course from just thinking “it’s downhill so I got this” could lead to falling flat but if you prepare right, it could very well be one of the top runs you have.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Came in from Los Angeles since the LA run was changed to Big Bear, which I would have gladly done but the date fell on the same date as another race I was signed up for. I think I like this one better, even though I was a fan of the one in Azusa. Flew into Phoenix on Friday and drove down to Tucson from there, which was pretty effortless. Trip took about two hours. Driving back was a little more challenging since I was somewhat worn out from the run. The airfare, car rental and hotel combined were almost cheaper than what it would have been to fly into Tucson, which is why I chose to do it that way. My trip was brief so I didn’t do much. There’s plenty of beautiful scenery around so you can obviously take advantage of that. I stopped at Picacho State Park on my way back to Phoenix after the run which was beautiful.

    2. Describe your race day.

Beautiful weather. This is only my 4th HalF Marathon but it had the very best views/vistas of all. Great race. The last mile was hard when my legs were shot but loved the rest

    3. Did you PR?

      yes

    4. How would you describe the course?

Loved the course because of all the panoramic views.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Used a training schedule I found online. Wish I had mountains where I live so I could have trained more for the down hill. But still loved the course.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

In 2019 definitely put this race on your list of "Must complete races".

    2. Describe your race day.

Beautiful weather beautiful course. I appreciated the announcement of the delayed start and no worries about getting to the porta pots before the race

    3. Did you PR?

      Nope

    4. How would you describe the course?

Uphill was tough, so I walked most of it. The run was gorgeous going from pine forest to rock formations to cactus forest.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I didn’t train for this one. I ran Big Cottonwood and was on a hiatus from training much. I def learned from Big Cottonwood about the downhill running and how hard it is on the legs and I was able to go easy on this one.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

No sunglasses are needed. You are running toward the southwest. There was much more shade than sun. I had no problem taking it down to Capri pants and tank top with arm sleeves. I shed the gloves and headband early on. I had udon noodles soup the night before and it was perfect.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We drove the course and ate lunch in Summerville. Loved that. We got fudge at the gift shop there. We stayed at Four Points by the airport and enjoyed their breakfast daily (except on race day) Frim Louisiana.
