    2. Describe your race day.

Amazing! Loved the view and the course was a great course. My most favorite memory was seeing my run time! I felt 40 (51) again being able to run a 10 minute mile!

    3. Did you PR?

It was my best run time in the last 10 years! Loved it!

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Very easy and beautiful scenery.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I trained up to 10 miles so I had the endurance for my body to run as fast I did for the entire length of the course . I would recommend working the calve muscles.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

My energy gel packs really help give me the boost I needed to keep up with the unexpected fast pace my body was running do to the downhill course. I expected to finish at 2:50, finished 2:21

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Love my card with my run stats♥️

    2. Describe your race day.

Beautiful scenery. Enjoyed the walk down the mountain.

    3. Did you PR?

This was my first half marathon. I was shooting for 4hrs and did it 3:30. Didn’t really practice any downhill so that was challenging.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Beautiful scenery, challenging downhill course.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Well i recently had 4 operations on my abdomen so my training wasn’t great but have been walking no downhill training. Walked 10 miles on the weekend the past month and 3-5 a couple times during weekday.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Practice downhill and get shoes a half size larger. Downhill is a killer on the toes.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      I live in the area.

    2. Describe your race day.

Everything was fantastic. This was my second year running this race and I thought it was even better, in many respects than last year. It is so well supported and the space blankets and gloves really helped. My only complaint is that you didn't have the electronic number board at the end so we could take our picture with our specific time. I really liked that and I hope you bring it back next year.

    3. Did you PR?

      NO

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Excellent

    5. Tell us about your training.

I was recovering from an achilles tendon injury so my training was a little light. I'm pretty sore today!!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Just plan to "ditch" clothes along the way.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      I live here.

    2. Describe your race day.

Since it was cold before the sun came up the gloves and blanket were really appreciated

    3. Did you PR?

Yes. I set a pr at big cottonwood in September. I beat it by 2 minutes

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Beautiful

    5. Tell us about your training.

I mixed it up this year. I did half marathons, spartan runs and cycling. With the variety I really looked forward to the runs. Since I didn't run as many half I found myself pushing it a lot harder

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Enjoy it

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

University of Arizona football game before the race and Arizona State after the race. I also found a great new pizza place in Mesa called Mykes. They have the best salami pizza

    2. Describe your race day.

This race was so organized. Everything went smoothly and there was no confusion about where to be or hour to get there. You have to get up really early, which is kind of tough...but it’s so worth it! The race was amazing. The medals are big and neat. The finish line was well equipped with everything you might need as well. I really enjoyed running this course. I’d definitely do it again.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! My first actual marathon took me 3:14.00 minutes. I did a training half marathon 2 weeks before the Mt Lemmon course that was 2:32:00 and I finished Mt Lemmon in 2:14:36!

    4. How would you describe the course?

It was cold at the staging area. I could see my breath! We had to ditch our bags, blankets and warm clothes 15 minutes before the race. We had a short walk to the start time which was perfect for a warm up. After the race started I warmed up really quickly. The grade of Mt Lemmon is perfect and very runnable. The views are absolutely stunning. My favorite part was the sound of running water coming from the creeks. The elevation didn’t bother me because I always run in 6300+. I think the half start was only at 6000. So I had a much easier time breathing than normal.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I run my long runs on a very hilly course. There are lots of decent ups and downs. That definitely helped. I have one course that had two half mile steep downhill grades that I would run. I think getting correct downhill form is the most important thing you can do. Lots of research. Also do lots of exercises to strengthen those knees. I did both of those things and my knees and quads didn’t hurt at all during the race, even when I got to the last mile and a half, which was tough.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Downhill training, exercise and running form. Be prepared, that even when you do that, you’ll still be super sore after race day! Don’t dress too warm. It warms up quick and tons of people were ditching their sweaters, gloves and beanies on the side of the road.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

My husband is a Tucson native so we so friends and family. We did go to the railroad depot in downtown though. It’s got a steam locomotive you can go in and see and a cute little train museum. It’s fun for the kids and free!

    2. Describe your race day.

Got up too early, no way around that. Transportation was well coordinated. Organizers did a good job keeping us informed on pre-race routine. Aid stations were well run. Weather was great.

    3. Did you PR?

      Yes.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Beautiful.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Found a 16 week training guide and stuck to it - mostly.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

A big pre-race concern was the effect of a continuous downhill on upper leg muscles and knees. Was not a problem for me. The 5% average grade is gentle enough to not affect stride.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live here so my big adventure was going to the east side of Tucson - never get to this side of town. Ran the race with my daughter who came in from Vegas. She was nice enough to run at my pace. Not sure she'll be so nice next time.

I’ve never seen saguaro cactus before! Also saw a ringtail and rattlesnake. They had both been run over but still.....

      No

    4. How would you describe the course?

    2. Describe your race day.

Great organization at the buses and waiting area. Beautiful course.

    3. Did you PR?

No, my knee gave out at mile 19 and I had to do a shuffle the rest of the way in.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The scenery is beautiful. The course is brutal. Downhill for 24 miles at the grade was hard. Also the final aide statin was Closed when I got to it. The last runners coming in really needed that station

    5. Tell us about your training.

I used a 12 week program I’ve used in the past.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Downhill means downhill. Be mentally prepped.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I love about 2 hours away but I did give local dining suggestions to out of town runners
