I typically run about 50 miles a week with 2 speedworks and a long run of 12-15 miles.

A very well run race . I found it very tough . At home I have no way to train on hills so I didn`t do as well as I would have liked . I am going to try one of your other races . Probably Las Vegas .

    2. Describe your race day.

Great! Revel puts on excellent races. This is my second Revel Marathon and would do another in a heartbeat! Weather and scenery couldn't have been better. Great to be able to be inside before the race, even though it wasn't very cold. Never much of a line for toilets, either before or during the race. I came with a viral chest congestion so struggled breathing a little on the uphills at the beginning at 7-8,000 feet of elevation. Happy with my time, as I left it all on the course!

    2. Describe your race day.

So organized! And everyone was friendly.
My only disappointment is that I paid extra for a long sleeve tee and the sleeve on one arm is already coming undone. Such a bummer. I haven’t even washed it yet.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! I set a PR that beat even my time before having kids. I thought that was impossible.

    4. How would you describe the course?

So fast! The first 4 miles flew by. There were only a few uphill spots. Maybe a total of .5 miles uphill total.
I LOVED that there were mile markers at each mile and aid stations every two. It helped make it easy to judge how much to drink, etc knowing they’re so evenly spaced.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I worked out mostly on the treadmill because of the summer heat in AZ. I tried to do downhill when I could but I figured if I did uphill workouts it’d make going down that much easier (I think I was right!)

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Comfy shoes. Do enough downhill runs to know what hurts when you’re going downhill. I didn’t count on sore feet like I have.
Find layers you’re okay having donated. It’s easier to wear a few layers and shed them as you go.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Beyond Bread afterwards to celebrate (and eat all the carbs!)

    2. Describe your race day.

Parking was a nightmare. Despite leaving my hotel at 4:15 with a GPS ETA of 12” my car wasn’t parked until 4:50. Boarded bus which left at 5 & arrived at 6:25. Race delayed 15”. First 4 miles uphill @ elevation >8000 ft. Scenic course but too much altitude! Ran11” slower than BigBear & 9” slower than Mt Hood. This is not a race to PR. Post race shuttle very efficient. I was in my car 20” after finishing. Please offer something besides French Toast & Pizza at finish line.

    3. Did you PR?

      Hell no!

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Scenic, too much altitude

    5. Tell us about your training.

      I run a marathon every 3-4 weeks. Every week I run 2 X 14 miles & 2x 16 miles. The other 3 days I bike 60 miles I’ve run 259 marathons PR 2:58 in 1997. Best time in 2018 3:19 at Big Bear.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Start the race with gloves & a throwaway long sleeve shirt. Train at altitude. Allow ONE HOUR for parking!!!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      N/A
