Consistent Mid-Race Acceleration and Late Recovery Needs George maintained a commendable pace at the start of the race, completing the first mile at a 9:02 min/mile pace. Notably, his pace improved through the middle sections, reaching an impressive 8:38 min/mile by mile five. This improvement shows a strong capability for managing energy through the early stages of the race, staying within the top 650 male participants through mile five. However, the final portions of the race saw a significant slowdown. Between miles nine and 13, the pace regressed to 9:31 min/mile and then further to 11:21 min/mile in the last mile. This late-race fade resulted in a more modest finish of 2:03:21. Focusing on endurance building in the later miles could help George maintain his mid-race momentum longer. Despite these late challenges, his position within the M60-64 division remained impressive, hovering around sixth to tenth throughout the race. Great effort, George!
