  1. Overall Rating

    5/5 Stars

  2. Describe your race day.

This race was extremely well organized, from the check-in on Friday to the finish line festivities! It seems like they thought of everything, and everything was executed to perfection. I was constantly being surprised at how efficient everything was: getting my bag and number on Friday, parking on race morning, loading busses, having bathrooms available, mile markers and posters along the way, drinks and snacks, getting results, getting pictures, turning in and retrieving my bag, etc. etc. etc. The most memorable thing was the beautiful scenery while I ran, and the outstanding organization let me focus on that. What a great experience!

  3. Did you PR?

This was my first half marathon, so I did PR, but by default.

  4. How would you describe the course?

I LOVED the course! I'm from Utah, so I'm very familiar with Big Cottonwood Canyon and I've always loved it. But I've never enjoyed it while running, and seeing the sun hit the tops of the mountains and slowly move down was inspiring. We even saw some interesting wildlife (including a moose)! The grade was nice and made the run very enjoyable for me.

  5. Tell us about your training.

I basically run for fitness, and I run 4-5 miles a day, 4-6 times a week. My busy work schedule prevents me from being more consistent. I felt like this prepared me very well for the run, but I was not really pushing it for speed. For someone who wants a fast time, they would have to train more seriously than I did.

  6. What advice would you give future runners?

Be prepared to stay warm at the top before the race starts. Once the race started the temperature was perfect.

  7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live in Syracuse, UT so I didn't really have to travel for this race.
