  1. Overall Rating

    5/5 Stars

  2. Describe your race day.

The race is beautiful and fast, and the weather was great. The course was well defined and organized. My one complaint is that I had to spend way too much time getting around people in the first few miles. I think there needs to be corrals, or people need to line up according to how fast they expect to run. No one that is walking should be at the front of the start line!

  3. Did you PR?

Yes, I set a PR in the half marathon. I ran it 15 minutes faster than I ever have.

  4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful scenery- forested canyon and roadside creek for the first nine miles of the half, with significant elevation drop.

  5. Tell us about your training.

This was my fifth half marathon. I am glad that I practiced running with significant elevation gain and drops.

  6. What advice would you give future runners?

Make sure to bring a jacket, as it is cold while you wait to start. If you are a fast runner, make sure to get to the front of the start line. If you are slower, use etiquette and find a spot in the middle or the back.

  7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We came from Idaho, but we have family we visited, and we went to the aquarium, which my 2 1/2 daughter loved.
