    5/5 Stars

  2. Describe your race day.

Bus parking went perfect - ppl directing where to park - bus ready to go -
Pre-Race area - again, very good - maybe could have used a few more porto's but otherwise - great. Beautiful area - thanks for bringing gloves/blankets for us that forgot ours :( - race was great - more uphill than anticipated but a great race - awesome aid stations - plenty of them - really it was perfect! (maybe order cooler weather next year for this Texas girl) lol
A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE VOLUNTEERS! You did an AWESOME job!

  3. Did you PR?

no - had planned on it but w/an injury earlier this year was unable to get much downhill training; but had a fun run - will do this again if I can get more downhill training; definitely could have PR'd if I had the training done. Ran it for fun this year as it turns out and I had fun!

  4. How would you describe the course?

beautiful - I thought maybe a bit too much through highway part in Evergreen - but to get from point A to point B it is a must! :) cambered roads for sure - but an awesome course.

  5. Tell us about your training.

or the lack thereof. :) Since I didn't get too many miles in at all the last 5 weeks - I feel I did well. I knew I could do the miles but just slow. I would certainly train to PR next time to include my speed work - downhill training etc.

  6. What advice would you give future runners?

TRAIN-TRAIN-TRAIN - like all the remarks mention be sure and do lots of downhill training - and UP - my quads are still pretty sore and I've run many marathons - normally am not sore - esp at the slow pace I ran. traveling - ugh - was stuck overnight at Denver a/p due to threatening weather many flights were cancelled on Monday. not fun! but unavoidable. next time I will have an early flight out (was scheduled for 8pm) next time; once one is delayed - it snowballed. Definitely dress for 20 degrees warmer - it is chilly at start but hot by end of race.

  7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

drove the course - AWESOME! - ran the shakeout run on Sat morning in Golden - (talk about hills :)) Met Mary ( pacer) at the shakeout run who was very sweet to stay w/me to finish the 3 miles - the elevation DEFINITELY make a difference; went to the amphitheater - hiked some - if I had not had a marathon I would have been hiking - sight seeing the entire weekend :)
