  2. Describe your race day.

    buses were on time at Hampton Inn, easy drive to start. was much cooler than my weather app showed - so I didn't bring my blanket, gloves, or wear any of the cold weather gear I had brought. luckily! - you guys were prepared and I was able to get an emergency blanket to wrap up in for the 1 1/2 hour wait till the start of the race. the course was beautiful, well marked, and had more than adequate aid stations. although I always bring my camelpack, I did partake in a few gatorades along the way and even one Gu. I didn't use, but did appreciate the porto johns along the way too. you just never know! the finish was good, and luckily my friend who finished before me, told me about the timing cards you were giving out (had no idea that was there). got one! luv it.i did not partake in any of the after race activities. honestly I hadn't brought ID for the beer garden - I guess I just assumed that since I entered my birthdate for the race, I wouldn't need one. I guessed wrong. lesson learned. the busses back were crowded, but that's to be expected. my partner who stayed at the hotel was able to track my progress on her phone. and no sooner did I cross the finish line, she texted a great big "congrats" because she knew I beat the time I wanted to. loved that feature. results were available almost immediately, pictures came faster than I expected, and now Im just waiting on the video!

    you guys really know how to host a race. well done.

  3. Did you PR?

    no, but I Pg'ed.

    I Personal Goaled.i had a time in mind, and was able to accomplish it - with a few minutes to spare.

    lol

  4. How would you describe the course?

    coming from virgina, I was very apprehensive of the altitude, however I did everything right;
    drank LOTS of water, came a few days early to acclimatize, made a few trips up to higher elevations and slept at lower elevation (hike high - sleep low). and I didn't feel any effects of the elevation.
    the course was downhill, and I had trained for it, but not enough. it is three days later - and my calves are still killing me! lesson learned.

  5. Tell us about your training.

    regular walking and running 5-6 days a week, one day a week 45-60 minutes in a treadmill with a 5% decline. next time would definitely spend more time training for decline. and possibly throw in weight work (squats, lunges, etc.)

  6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

    came from northern Virginia, stayed in Lakewood. visited Mt evans, downtown Denver, red rocks amphitheater, golden, Idaho springs, Morrison, and lookout mountain. ate lots of great food! the Sherpa house in golden was one of my favorites.
