  1. Overall Rating

    5/5 Stars

  2. Describe your race day.

I had a BQ today thanks to the awesome weather and more so the volunteers at the aid stations. The support from the police, sheriff departments etc. who support this event are to be commended!! The race director and crew made sure the runners experienced a first rate event!!

  3. Did you PR?

No--PRs are beyond me at my age (56), but I did BQ!!

  4. How would you describe the course?

This is a very tough course with the altitude and downhill, but experienced runners can capitalize on this course!! This was my 106th marathon and I know how to account for the altitude and downhill. I live at sea level, but can train for a course like this. The scenery was a great distractor when conditions felt tough!! I was not expecting the continuous downhill the last 4 miles and even with trashed legs it helped me get my BQ because I wasn't worrying about altitude :-)

  5. Tell us about your training.

I run a marathon every 6-8 weeks so know how to look at a course and train for the conditions the course has to offer. I did lots of hill training in humid conditions so was ready for the course today. The advice you have on your website about downhill training is good. People training for this race should include downhill repeats in their training.

  6. What advice would you give future runners?

    Just enjoy the journey!!

  7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

My kids and grandkids live in Denver so we planned for family time!! My husband and I live in Hermitage TN so when we can combine a marathon with family time, that is just the best of both worlds.
