  2. Describe your race day.

This was my 4th year running the Revel Rockies Half Marathon. I have loved Revel since that first year, and think it has only gotten better and better and more "fine tuned" with each race!! I have also run Revel Big Cottonwood and am signed up to run next year's Revel Mt. Charleston. This year was no exception...Revel Rockies did not disappoint. Everything was well organized and well done! The buses to the start line were lined up and ready to go, and there were tons of them! We didn't even have to wait...just got on a bus and headed right up to Evergreen! The start line area was large enough to accommodate all of the half marathoners. I appreciate that there is water available and music to get us pumped up. The porta potty set up was a little confusing this year and they probably should've been set up in a straight line instead of the way they were. It created confusion as two lines started at either side, and the one line couldn't see the other which created people going for the same one at the same time from two different directions. (This is really my only gripe.) The course is well marked, and right on as far as my Garmin was concerned. Lots of course support, aid stations and porta potties along the way! The course is beautifully breathtaking and a perfect place to run this race. The uphill at the finish is a little "mean"...lol...but we all survived it! The medals are always fantastic, well designed and my some of my all time favorite medals. Kuddos to you guys on the medal again this year. It is stunning! The pizza and pie at the finish were such a bonus! Gear check is always a smooth process, and I have never had any qualms with leaving my bag. I have never had any issues with it! Well done on that too!

  3. Did you PR?

I did not PR (1:55:57), but I did do better than last year's time of 1:56:20...my best time for this course is 1:53:57. So, at least I am consistent...lol!

  4. How would you describe the course?

The course is beautiful!! Such awesome views for the entire run! It almost makes you forget that you are running 13.1 miles! The only thing that gets me every year is the hills...but then, who truly loves hills anyhow. The hills for the last .10 of the race feel like they are a mile lone...lol! Overall, though, I would truly be sad if you ever changed any section of this course...I truly love it that much!

  5. Tell us about your training.

I try to run a half marathon each month, so my training is pretty consistent year round. This year was slightly different as I had just run the Rock n Roll San Diego Half Marathon a week prior (on June 4th). I wasn't sure how my body would like running two half marathons that close together, as I have never done anything closer than two weeks from each other. However, I don't think it hurt me like I was thinking it would...and I attribute that to my training.

  6. What advice would you give future runners?

My biggest tip would be to take a thicker jacket for the start line, as it does get chilly! The silver blankets help, but a jacket to stick in your gear check bag is a must if you get chilled easily like I do. I also appreciate the gloves that Revel gives out. I wore mine until nearly mile 8!

  7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live here...Colorado is a fun state period...so many fun things to do year round!
