  1. Overall Rating

    5/5 Stars

  2. Describe your race day.

I went into it very worried about the heat. It was great-cloudy and cool until I hit about mile 18-20 when the sun came out and started to warm up quickly. Still, it was much better than I anticipated. Hooray! Always love the Ryan Gosling sign!

  3. Did you PR?

Nope, 2 seconds slower than last year. Second year where I qualified for Boston but just barely so I probably won't make it in again. I'll be back next year to try yet again!

  4. How would you describe the course?

The first 11 miles are screaming downhill so it's tough not to go out too fast. The hills through Evergreen are tough for me but it's the flat-ish, shade free section between miles 21-23 that do me in every year. Then you can really pick it up on the last 3 miles. It's the most beautiful scenery of any race I've ever run.

  5. Tell us about your training.

I trained hard this year. Peak mileage at 60 which definitely helped my endurance, but need to work on speed more to get to Boston! Several downhill runs helped prep my quads.

  6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train on downhill AND uphill. It tends to get toasty at the end of the marathon so hydrate early and often. Don't forget to look at the gorgeous mountain scenery!

  7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I drove down from Fort Collins at 2am so no fun pre race activities but my spectators and I went to a local restaurant after the race and enjoyed a nice meal.
    Thanks for another great race!!
