  2. Describe your race day.

This was one of the best half marathon courses I've run. It was an easier, downhill course with lots of support. The aid stations were plentiful with awesome volunteers that cheered you by name and had water and electrolyte drinks always ready. The officers directing traffic were courteous and friendly. The finish line amenities were amazing - fruit, bagels, pretzels, pizza, pumpkin pie?! Finally, the announcer MADE this race. To have his level of energy at 5+ hours in really makes a difference for those people that battled for every single mile. I finished the half at 2:47 and my sister finished the full at 5:03 and he gave us both the same enthusiastic, personal welcome in. Great experience!

  3. Did you PR?

I did not set a PR with regard to my half marathon finish time. This was my first long distance race pregnant, though, and to be able to complete 13.1 miles at 6 1/2 months pregnant is a big WIN for me. The plentiful aid stations and support by volunteers gave me security that if I did need help it would be available.

  4. How would you describe the course?

This was a scenic course with a nice downhill, especially at the beginning. There were a few small uphills thrown in just to keep in interesting. There were also plenty of spectators, especially the last two miles, to keep the energy going.

  5. Tell us about your training.

I trained for 10 weeks, gradually building my long runs up to 12 miles. I had a solid running base of 3-5 miles 3 times a week before starting training. I wouldn't change a thing - I'm just happy I'm still able to run this far into my pregnancy.

  6. What advice would you give future runners?

Consistency is key! Don't skimp on your long runs and don't over train. Also, if you get a chance to run part of the course during training, absolutely do it. It helps know what to expect on race day. Also, don't try something new on race day - figure out nutrition, hydration, clothing and music before the big day.

  7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I waited to cheer my sister through the full marathon after I finished the half.
