  1. Overall Rating

    5/5 Stars

  2. Describe your race day.

I thought this race was so well run. The bus transfer to the start line was very smooth, the race started exactly on time, there was plenty of space, bathrooms, aid stations, volunteers, etc., and the finish line/reception area was ideal. The course was just enough downhill that it was fast, but not so steep that my body took a crazy pounding it wasn't ready for. Overall, I could not have imagined a better experience!

  3. Did you PR?

    Yes, by 10 minutes.

  4. How would you describe the course?

The scenery was mostly desert/mountains for the half, but it's Vegas, so it was nothing I wasn't expecting already. Like I said above, the grade was perfect in my opinion. Fast, but not too steep.

  5. Tell us about your training.

I had very little time to train in the months leading up to this, so of course I could have prepared better, but I'm still happy with the result. I'd just say to run downhill a few times in the weeks leading up to the race to get used to the adjustments in pace and positioning you have to make.

  6. What advice would you give future runners?

I heard the full marathoners got the full gamut of Vegas weather today, with snow at the start and hotter-than-ideal temps at the finish. But that's how Vegas is, and it's another challenge of this race. Every year weather will be unpredictable, as it is in most places, but Vegas weather in May is particularly fickle. So just keep that in mind.

  7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Vegas is Vegas, so there's something for everyone. I live here, so most of that stuff downtown is rather boring to me. But there's plenty to do here, so that shouldn't be much of a concern.
