  1. Overall Rating

    4/5 Stars

  2. Describe your race day.

The view from the start at Mt Charleston was spectacular, and the weather was perfect, but I was truly prepared for the fast descent. By mile 11 my legs felt shredded and I had to do some walking. But towards the end, I recovered and finished the Last 2-Miles almost as well as I had started. It was unfortunate that most of the celebrations were over by the time I finished, but the vendor selling shirts and stuff was very hospitable.

  3. Did you PR?

No, but I came within 5-minutes, which is good enough for me as my Marathon finishing times are gradually inching their way towards getting a new PR.

  4. How would you describe the course?

    Scenic and Fast!

  5. Tell us about your training.

I've even going through Marathon training since last August and this Marathon was my 3rd in the last 8-months. Although I was ready for the distance, I was not ready for the fast descents on this course. The bad thing is there's nothing like this in San Antonio, Texas so it's nearly impossible to train properly for Mt Charleston.

  6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train on fast descents wherever you can find them!

  7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Went to visit the World Famous Pawn Shop, from the TV show "Pawn Stars", in downtown Las Vegas.
