  2. Describe your race day.

A beautiful and wicked fast course! I couldn't believe how strong I felt. From start to finish I was nothing but amazed. Excellent job with the course and race organization. Wonderful pacers, excellent post race massage, and free photos. I will definitely be back!

  3. Did you PR?

Yes! I bet my prior PR by 10 minutes and Boston qualified with 7 minutes to spare!

  4. How would you describe the course?

Stunning! Fast! The first half of the marathon course is steepest. The grade became more gradual at the halfway point but still made me feel speedy. The downhill felt amazing. Pure running bliss. The whole time the view overlooks the mountains. By far the most scenic course I've run.

  5. Tell us about your training.

Training consisted of a mix of downhill running and flat runs. I did one race simulation run which consisted of 16 miles downhill followed by 3 miles of rolling hills. This made me feel mentally prepared for race day and gave me a good idea of what my legs might feel like and what pace I could hold. I definitely felt my training prepared me well.

  6. What advice would you give future runners?

Be prepared for weather variations. The start was quite cold (40) but by the time I finished it was hot. Bring layers you don't mind shedding after the first mile or so. There was also lots of wind on the course due to it being so open. This made for a great tail wind at times. During times where the wind is a head wind tuck into a group of runners to conserve energy. Just make sure to do some downhill training and you're going to really enjoy this course!
