    2. Describe your race day.

Started off by leaving my sunglasses on the bus- but another challenge I accepted. Had a visor which definitely helped with the sun. I felt absolutely great and kept saying to myself, " hold back, hold back" but every time I did I said to myself that I felt good - wasn't overrunning. My first revel- I signed up a year ago or whenever registration opened as I knew I could run downhill and thought that this would be an interesting test. But then... during the year I added Boston and RnR Madrid so this was the 3rd marathon in 12 days. Not bad for a 61 year old- and all BQ'ers.

    3. Did you PR?

Note: see answer in #4. Totally could tell this was put on by runners- from the email about the weather and placing a Myler blanket and gloves in the swag bag- well nice touch! Then motorcoaches to the start? Yes! So nice and the system of separating the half/full and loading buses was seamless from my vantage point.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Not a PR however I haven't run a sub 3:30 in years. So in "recent" years, yes. A BQ by almost 57 minutes. Guess that will get me up a few corrals from this year- maybe end of wave 2! We shall see.. I don't have any constructive comments on the course.. it is what it is.. high desert and not much to look (or distract me) at. I liked the fact that I was actually "running" though - not many turns, not many people crowding the course (making it narrow), and the road was smooth. No potholes, no cobblestone roads, etc. there are some races I have to keep looking at the ground to make sure my foot placement is ok. So much easier to run when you don't have to worry about those things!

    5. Tell us about your training.

Training? My training is unique, sorta this year as I've done 8 fulls( all BQ and sub 4 hours) and a bunch of halfs and a few 5k's thrown in. So training is basically the last run. I work hard, eat well, don't drink and with my aging body - rest is important between races. It's working so far!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

It's one topic that to me is a one on one conversation. What works for me as you've read may not work for another. But study the course, bring multiple weather clothing options as what you read a day or even a few out if traveling can change in a heartbeat. And what I wear may not be comfortable with what you wear. Shoes? Never give tips- same thing- what works for me may not work for you. Get professional tips from a reputable running store that hires runners.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Seriously? It's Vegas! However, When coming to Vegas to run its all about the run. I was able to walk around last night and stayed vertical. Flying directly from Madrid here, huge time change, logistics of getting to packet pick up and start as venues were located off the strip which pretty much ends my familiarity with the city, early start - which is fine but the time change was a factor, running ( for me, a fantastic race) leaving very abused legs last night and now while writing this) is my happiness. I know... but they will heal soon! Actually, I come here quite often- looking at shows to go to tonight after I finish writing you guys! I live in Michigan! Thank you for putting on a quality race. I almost forgot.. the gear check pickup was AMAZINGLY perfect. Other races should take note. And a lot of other runners commented on this as well- all lined up and in order. Who's the teacher in your bunch? And then the guy who was out there when we waited in line for the busses to get back to our cars doing the , " give me an R, give me an E, etc and passing out water . I mean he was so happy! Just have to shout out a thank you to him!

    2. Describe your race day.

Love the scenery, the course and volunteers :)

    3. Did you PR?

I PR'ed by 61 minutes!!! Did not qualify for Boston but this was an amazing leap for it being my second marathon ever.

    4. How would you describe the course?

I very much enjoyed he mountains and trees and then the desert scenery.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I was coming off of an injury so was slowly ramping up again but not nearly getting in the mileage I wanted in the previous weeks.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

My advise to others is to take your rest days seriously and do a lot of preventative work! You'll thank yourself later!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

It was very chilly at the beginning so I appreciated true race getting started very promptly. The pie and cold towel at the of the race were phenomenal.

    2. Describe your race day.

I finished. That's a good memory for me

    3. Did you PR?

Sadly no. I was about 4 mins off. I'll try again.

    4. How would you describe the course?

It's a great course. Easy but grueling (for me anyway). Scenery was nice, what I noticed of it

    5. Tell us about your training.

I need more. Felt like I was undertrained. I would definitely train better. Didn't run downhill much & it took a toll on my legs. Only adice is train & be ready for anything, cold, wind, etc.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Same as answer before

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Before the race, I just tried to keep warm. The mylar blanket & glove were a great idea. After the race, I checked out the vendors. Refreshmen were good, more than enough. Keep up the good work. I drove in from San bernardino, CA.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Awsome

    5. Tell us about your training.

I wasn't able to do as much downhill training this year so my calves are killing me today.... so for sure next year - I need to run more downhills!!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

It's super cold at the start so wear layers that you are happy to shed.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Soaked up the atmosphere of being in the most beautiful location

    2. Describe your race day.

Great race but somewhat frustrating outcome. Thanks for putting on a great event,

    3. Did you PR?

No. 2 1/2 minutes slower than my PR set last year at Mt. Charleston.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Still think it is probably the fastest course in the country. The out and back about mile 23 was really nasty due to the headwind and slight climb that far into the race. Hopefully the permitting can be resolved for the loop at mile 5 instead.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Used the Advanced Revel Coaching. Followed it exactly and still went backwards from last year. Advice is to make sure you train on some hills. I'm not sure what I would do differently.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Dress in layers. The cold at the start goes away very quickly.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      None
