    2. Describe your race day.

Ran the full marathon. Great volunteers, bus, timing, location, weather, race staff, medical staff, course, etc!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes, by 5 minutes! Won my age group & BQ'd by over 30 minutes!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Pretty steep uphill to start on. Really wakes up the muscles. Then a nice downhill through the canyon. Once you get into the city it flattens out. The late course change for Mile 24 was tough with the uphill & strong headwind which made the last 2 miles feel a lot harder than they were. Please keep the race date in April like this year as May gets way too hot in the canyon & city.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I'm always training, but do 3 extra 20 mile runs to prepare for a full & 50+ miles week with some speed training days. Did one 20 miler on a downhill route.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Be prepared for the uphill start and rolling hills around mile 4, 12, 24. It's not all downhill & the flats in the city will feel uphill after coming out of the canyon.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Drove in day of race & left right after.

    2. Describe your race day.

I had ran The Boston Marathon less than you weeks before, and I didn't do well there, so I was so anxious and nervous. However, as the time started unfolding, my body started getting more and more comfortable to the elements of what ended up being a great run.

    3. Did you PR?

No, I did not PR. As a matter of fact, I was ran it about 2 minutes slower than last year. But I knew that was coming because of my lack of training... While some people celebrate "BQ" I celebrate "NYCQ"

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Great course.

    5. Tell us about your training.

At the moment, due to my daily commute to/from work I'm not really training the way I used to. I'm only running 13.1 miles every Saturday.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Come, join us!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

    2. Describe your race day.

I stayed at the Mt Charleston Resort the night before and it was great. They had coffee ready at 3:30am and snack bags for purchase. The shuttle picked us up at 5am to drive us to the start.Im glad we were able to hang out in the lodge restaurant while we were waiting for the start and find our friends. I found myself running way too fast for the 1st part of the race and slowing down the second and will slow it down the first half next year. Whatet stations se so far apart aftwr 15miles. I loved thw course, i just need to train better next year.No.

    3. Did you PR?

No. On my watch I qualified for Boston but was a min. over on Revel time.

    4. How would you describe the course?

    2. Describe your race day.

1To run 26.2 with my daughter in her first marathon
      2 repeat #1!

    3. Did you PR?

Nope, that wasn't the plan either

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was fine until mile 23 up hill with a 20 mph head wind ..... cruel! The grade was relatively consistent a little steeper early. The fact that there's no crowd support was awesome it actually adds to the uniqueness of the event.

    5. Tell us about your training.

6-10 miles 2x a week then a standard long run build up peaking at 20 -22 miles 3x over 4 months.
Added a -3% tread mill run every 10 days.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Work on the down hill techniques, shortened stride, lean into the hill etc.
Cushion shoes but I'm a 205 lb guy, lip balm.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      We came from Southeast Missouri.
Exploring the Mountains north of the city as well as the strip, and of course finding unique places to eat.

    2. Describe your race day.

Parking and bussing was easy peasy. The style of bus was wayyyyy better than using school busses. Thank you. The wet towel at the finish was great. I've had that at a few races and it always makes me wish all organizers would do that. It makes the finish area much more enjoyable with friends and family when runners aren't disgustingly sweaty

    3. Did you PR?

Yes. 8 min pr. Previous was 3:00:20. Yesterday's revel was 2:52:24

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Excellent choice of route.

    5. Tell us about your training.

My training was geared toward Boston 2017. I raced that and was not pleased with my race result nor did I bq for Boston 2018. I had a friend transfer me his revel mt. Charleston bib 6 days before the race. I did 2 recovery runs a week after Boston of 5 miles each. So with the tapering before Boston and then not running after it and also no recovery from it, I am pleased with how I did at revel. I feel I could have done much better with fresh legs or if I trained for revel specifically. I live in LV and knew what to expect from it. I also do 95% of my running outdoors and generally have lots of elevation. So it wasn't really a concern

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Practice downhill running. And some climbing late into the long runs.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

    2. Describe your race day.

Hi Revel. I really enjoy your races. I've run the big cottonwood race twice. This race I planned to do the 26.2, but only did the 13.1 bc I moved and didn't have time to train. I've run many marathons, 2 in Boston. I love this course in Las Vegas, but I have a few things I noticed to improve.
-on my paper, you have the gun time and my start time at the same time. I waited for the crowd to leave before I started. The time was off about 3 minutes. I want an accurate time, even if I'm not trying to BQ.
-the course was long on the marathon by at least .2. That adds about 2 minutes. We had a group of about 8 woman. That many different garmin can't be wrong.

-we need more water stations in the last 5 miles.

I know this is a newer race, and I know you will work the kinks out. It's a great route. I hope to do the 26.2 in big c this year and maybe this course next year. ( if I remember right, the big c course was also long the 2 years I ran it...)

      Thanks!

    3. How would you describe the course?

      Perfect to BQ

    2. Describe your race day.

As usual, Revel organized the race well so it was easy to get to the start line. I'm much appreciative of the support from the volunteers along the course and at the finish. The weather was great. Surprisingly, the wind was more of an attribute instead of a hindrance, particularly from miles 21 to 23.

    3. Did you PR?

      Yes

    4. How would you describe the course?

Great. I'm being overly critical, but the out-and-back should be eliminated. The loop around the parking lot last year near mile 5 was better. But I know Revel can only control so much.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Did Revel Canyon City Marathon in November then trained for and completed the LA Marathon in March. So, only had 6 weeks to get ready for Mt. Charleston. Regardless, I was still able to PR by 3 minutes.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Study and know the course. You need to save your legs for the final 5 miles or you'll be in trouble. And drive ithe course in advance!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Travel with friends. Had lunch in the Mt. Charleston Lodge the day before.
