  2. Describe your race day.

Drove down from Ventura County Friday afternoon. Took 3 hours to get to the expo. Hit a lot of traffic on the 210. Expo was small. Packet pick up was a breeze & very well organized. My bestie, who also ran Canyon City, drove up Friday evening from San Diego. We stayed at Embassy Suites Arcadia/Pasadena (15 minute drive from shuttle bus areas). On race morning we drove to the shuttle areas with plenty of time to spare but the lines to the parking lots were backed up several blocks. We parked half a mile away and walked. Line onto the bus moved pretty quickly. From there it was a smooth and warm (bus was heated) 40 minute ride up to the start line. It was freezing once we got off the bus!! Not sure what the exact temps were but it felt like 40 degrees. Bring the gloves and space blanket (included in your race packet)! Race started right on time. Course was very beautiful, fast, not congested, & well supported. I really loved the finish line festivities and the medal was HUGE! Representing team MRTT was a bonus.

  3. Did you PR?

No PR for me but many of my friends did! I didn't train for this race as I should have. But Canyon City is definitely a great choice for PR/BQ race.

  4. How would you describe the course?

No doubt one of the most BEAUTIFUL courses I have run! Fast too if PRing or BQing was your goal. Support was excellent. Finish was awesome. Good size race. Not too huge of a field.

  5. Tell us about your training.

I honestly didn't train much for this race. Yosemite Half a month ago was my last run.

  6. What advice would you give future runners?

Don't be deceived by the "down hill" course elevation map. The first few miles are rolling hills so run some hills. Doing so will get you more than ready to tackle this course. Also, dress in layers! It was really cold at the start. Don't forget to bring the gloves & space blanket with you. If you run with music like I do, get your playlist ready. (There is no reception until around mile 10).

  7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

After the race and checking out of our hotel, we spent the afternoon in Old Town Pasadena. I drove back home Sat evening.
