    2. Describe your race day.

Awesome day with friends! BEST Half Marathon ever! Great information to participants, plus training schedule, and planning ever. Everything was thought of for our day. Even the weather was perfect! We will be back!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! Okay, I am old, and I walk, but I felt like one of the gang. I have done 8 half marathons-so I have exceeded my life goal of 100 miles in halfs. Here's to the next 100!

    4. How would you describe the course?

I had driven the course before the race so I knew what to expect. It was all good. The frequent water stations were great.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I train year-round (I did 3 halfs this year) and the training info you sent help me prepare for the downhill course. I also cycle and swim. I was ready.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Enjoy!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I found a great Italian restaurant-Adolinos! Our group of 8 had a delicious carb-loading dinner. We are all from out of the area and out-of-state so it was a relaxed and informal spot to meet-up after the Expo and look forward to the race.

The best organized and most enjoyable California Marathon! My 3rd year running Revel Canyon City! ... and for anyone every considering it... it all starts with the incredible Race Packet Delivery option (life is busy and the Revel people know how to take care of us and to make it all a little easier)... to the smooth and easy race day parking access to the non-stressful and non-congested bus transportation system to get us up the mountain to the race starting line, to the fantastic set up of porta-potty’s (so you don’t have to wait in long lines like at every other race!), to the supply of Mylar blankets, gloves, coffee, etc. waiting at the gathering area before the start of the race, to the excellent communication from the event organizers to us runners about the timing for our gear check so we can stay comfortable for as long as possible, to the easy to find meet ups with the fantastic pacers that have been set up and provided for us all to achieve our ideal goals... all the way down the mountain with the perfectly spaced support stations and photographers to the finish line, with the amazing support of the Azusa Police Department, the ever talented MC to rally the crowd with each of our names as we cross the finish line, the incredible volunteers and youth community service support groups... and then!... the hot yummy pizza waiting to greet our depleted and hungry systems, the ice cold water and Powerade and Lagunitas Beer to rehydrate with and fresh ice cold towels to calm and soothe our exhausted bodies, topped off with the best Marie Callender Pies that make the best pairing with the Race Medal to make us feel on top of the world - and finally, The Rapid Reboot Team to lead you into recovery... THE BEST DAY! Thank you for my 2nd BQ and I can’t wait to remember this fantastic race with the free Revel Finishers Video that will soon be made for me, that I truly appreciate and treasure! Thanks to everyone that’s a part of the Revel Marathon Organization and to all of the volunteers at the Revel Canyon City Marathon! See you next year at Mt. Charleston and again at Canyon City!

    2. Describe your race day.

It was great! Most memorable thing was I did PR! I didn't expect I could run such a fast pace. So, I was surprised with my result!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! I PR'd by 7min. The last time I did PR was 3 years ago before I was pregnant. Now, I am a mom runner and did PR!!! Also, I did BQ'd by 19min.

    4. How would you describe the course?

It was not easy course. The second half was rolling course. The scenery was beautiful.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I did speed training and long run training as my normal marathon training.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Maintain your speed at first half, don't go too fast. Keep energy for the second half.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I travel from San Francisco Bay area. I didn't do anything fun thins before or after race there.

    2. Describe your race day.

I think the Revel Canyon City Marathon is pretty well organized, especially for a newer race, and I had a good time. Some of the things I really liked were the fast course (if you run it right), the beanie you get in the swag bag, nice charter buses rather than the school buses a lot of races use, and pictures included for the price. Some of the things I didn't like were the lack of pacers (I'm not sure what happened but It appeared that all the pacers faster than 3:25 didn't make it for some reason), expo was pretty small with very little parking, only had water at the start (no sports drink, fruit, Vaseline). While I can't give it 5 stars, I'll probably come back to run it again another time if it works out for my schedule. I hit my goal so it was a good day.

    3. Did you PR?

I finished in 3:11 which was a 5 minute PR topping the 3:16 I ran in St. George 6 weeks prior. I qualified for Boston 2018 with enough cushion to ensure I'll actually be able to run it.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course very scenic and is fast IF you run it correctly. This is not a course for even or negative splits. You'll be banking some time but you don't want to be banking too much. I think too many people start out faster than they should. While this is common at most races, it requires extra attention here with the downhill being so front-loaded on this course. I think the key is running at an even effort rather than at a given pace. I focused on dialing it back at the start and running my own race rather than worrying about the people passing me at the start. This paid off as I had enough left for the hills in the back half which is how I went from 158th overall at the halfway mark to 76th overall at the finish.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I've been using the Hansons Marathon Method this year which has led to big performance gains for me. I run 6 days/week with 1 day of intervals, 1 day of tempo and a long run with the other 3 days being easy runs. I averaged about 60 miles per week. Because I only had 6 weeks since my last marathon (not the normal recipe for success) I had to do an abbreviated training cycle with 3 weeks recovery/easy running, 2 weeks of training, then 1 week of taper while relying on the fitness base I built during training for St. George in October. I also tried to do my tempo runs on downhills but I don't have anything around me close enough to simulate the first half of this course. However, I think it did give me time to work on proper downhill technique.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

I think preparation is the key. In addition to adequate training, knowing the course is very beneficial as I believe you need to run it appropriately to get the best out of yourself. Be patient and run within yourself while gravity helps during the first half. Train on downhill if possible and work on technique (lean forward, don't over stride, quick and light turnover, etc.) so that you don't run with the brakes on.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I grew up not too far from here and now live in San Diego so I'm still semi-local. Because of that I didn't really do any sight seeing or anything like that. I hit up In-N-Out Burger for a celebratory 4x4 which is my post-race tradition.
