  1. Overall Rating

    5/5 Stars

  2. Describe your race day.

I love that the course is small, so that you can connect so easily with your fellow runners. The course is beautiful and a good qualifier. The organization of the race was seamless. From the shuttles to the bag check you guys did an amazing job. I also really appreciated the signs you put up throughout the course to motivate us. Finally, I enjoyed finishing in Azuza with more crowd support.

  3. Did you PR?

Yes! I qualified for Boston and got an eleven minute PR

  4. How would you describe the course?

There are certainly parts of the course that are difficult, but the overall loss of elevation is helpful and made it a more comfortable race than others I have done in the past. The curves are tough, but it was possible to still run the tangents. The scenery is beautiful and the surroundings are peaceful.

  5. Tell us about your training.

My team did training runs in Malibu that mimicked the downhill portions of the REVEL course. Then, we always did mileage after the downhill that was flat/uphill. This combination was crucial and I would recommend it to others. I also followed a high weekly mileage plan with faster runs on track night and once a month on long runs. The rest of my runs were slow. This worked well for me.

  6. What advice would you give future runners?

Layers at the starting line are crucial. Know the course and be prepared for the portions that are not downhill. Factor your race pace planning accordingly. Also, if driving from LA, go to the expo Friday morning.

  7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We came from Santa Monica so didn't do anything before or after.
