    2. Describe your race day.

I know Revel doesn't control the weather, but it was as near perfect as it could get. From the gentle snow the first few miles , to the perfect temperature for relaxing at the finish area.

    3. Did you PR?

This was a PR for me by more than 15 minutes. I ran another touted "fast" course a few months ago and did a PR in that one by about 6 minutes, so to beat that time by another 15+ minutes here at Mt Charleston was incredible. I also qualified for Boston (first time ever, and by over 8 minutes).

    4. How would you describe the course?

Amazing/fast course. Not too high of altitude at the start, and a gentle down grade (not so steep as to beat me up).

    5. Tell us about your training.

I worked off a 16 week training plan. Would have liked to have had a little more down hill training, but hard to find in my area.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Don't run this one as your first one...you'll never like another one as much as Mt Charleston.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      Traveled from Mesa AZ.
Thank you for putting this together, and thanks to all the great volunteers.

    2. Describe your race day.

With the first two miles of snow and my legs telling me it wasn't my day, I had no idea what to expect. I thought about slowing down and waiting for a friend to just run her in. But by mile 6, things changed. I had a great race with time to myself.

    3. Did you PR?

No PR today as I'm 15 years older than my first marathon...3:00:12. :) But it was the fast marathon I ran in the last couple years. Felt good to run fast again...3:07:37.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was great! The first half was steep with some hard banks, but flattened out each time we went straight. The last half was the perfect downhill that just asked you to run fast! Now the last 4 were a little flat and didn't make my calves happy. A great course, though!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I didn't get as many downhill miles as I wanted and just recovered from a marathon two months ago. If I had time to train, I would have down many more downhill runs.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Run downhill! :)

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I made the road trip with my sister. It was just plain fun to hang with her!

    2. Describe your race day.

Painful at the end, but overall it was a well run race.

I was on the second bus out to the full marathon and the bus driver wasn't familiar with the Kyle Canyon cut off. The driver continued past Snow Drive and continued before asking if anyone knew where the turnoff was.

I responded and had the driver continue to the Lee Canyon turn, where we did a U-turn and then came back.

I don't know that any other drivers had that issue. A blinking marker or reflective marker a couple hundred yards before the turn would solve the issue. Fortunately we left early and arrived at 6 am. If we had left at 5 or later, we may have been late.

    3. Did you PR?

You know it. My previous record was set at Boston in 2014 - it was a 3:04:04 and I ran a 2:56 - PR by 8 minutes give or take. As long as Boston holds to their word and accepts this time, I'm in again for sure and now qualified for NY without having to pay - my cutoff is 3:05 for NY and 3:25 for Boston.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Great! I train up Mt. Charleston lodge area anyway and live close the finish line. We also run some of the same course for RAGNAR in the fall.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I fell off the wagon after Boston 2014 and had some less than stellar marathon times - worst being a 3:23 at the Las Vegas RNR in Nov 2015. Around January 2016 I put in 100.5 miles, same in February around a 7:00 pace and then went up to 122 miles in March at 6:53 pace - with hills a 17 mile run about 3 prior to the marathon.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Depending on experience - try negative splits or at least holding back until mile 13. At 13 miles, carefully gauge energy and fatigue level and work on form and breathing to mile 22 - if they have anything left, just gut it out to 25 or 26 and finish strong. My fastest mile was 6:02 (mile 2) slowest as 7:55 at mile 25 and finished with a 7:33 for the last mile

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Went home and slept - benefit of living close.

    2. Describe your race day.

Perfect! I love down hill running, the most spectacular experience was the snow falling on us the first 3 miles, that was really special, I'll never forget it.

    3. Did you PR?

      Yes, 23 minutes!!! And BQ'd

    4. How would you describe the course?

Great if you don't need bands or spectators along the course, I thought it was great, same road for 21 miles without traffic!!! The first 11 miles were pretty good downhill, then it continued downhill but not as much, last 4 miles were flat( except the overpass)

    5. Tell us about your training.

Hill training, down hill roads, decline treadmill, lunges, aqua jog, stairclimber, elliptical, chin ups push-ups planks, plyometrics. DO plenty of excercising to make quads as strong as possible

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Make sure your built for downhill running or your quads will not be able to take the pounding and by mile 14, they will be screaming at you.
Drive the course, bring several different outfits, and throw away clothes, start was 38, finish was 66, it's much colder on top of the mountain at 7600 elev

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      Relaxed!
      Traveled from Texas

    2. Describe your race day.

Very cold on the mountain that day, but the event planners did many things to make the event better.

    3. Did you PR?

No, I suffered a minor Achilles Tendon strain at mile 6 of the Half, but still finished the race.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Good course. Beautiful area. We might try starting higher up. The exhaust fumes were a problem down in town for tired runners.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Training was done using the Nike Coaches system. 2 shorts runs per week and 1 long run.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Sign up, train and then enjoy the day.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Its Vegas. Nothing left to say.

    2. Describe your race day.

the cool temperature and partly cloudy skies made for perfect race weather. Seeing my wife and two granddaughters at the rail about 100 yards from the finish and running by them for some quick high fives was my race highlight.

    3. Did you PR?

i was able to set a 13 minute PR. Also BQ'd by 13 minutes.

the course fast. the downhill grade on the first 21 miles was comfortable and not too steep.

my training didn't deviate much. i always include hills on my long runs. i really worked on my downhill form.

    2. Describe your race day.

Great buses, perfect weather at the start, great race support, first half of course was kind and beautiful, second half needed fruit and pretzels at aid stations and wasnt nearly as pretty as first part. What is very memorable to me was the ice cold towel at the end- THANK YOU!!! great to have race stats at the tent after.

PR'd and took 12 minutes off my time. No BQ.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful and wonderful first 15-16 miles, then hard and not as pretty last half.

    5. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

    2. Describe your race day.

The perfect race; cool, quick, and beautiful!

    3. Did you PR?

      Yes, I did.
I ran a the week before and had a PR of 4:16.
This weekend, I ran REVEL Mt. Charleston and PR again but this time I finished at 3:46.
I dropped my previous PR by 30 minutes, unbelievable!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was beautiful & quick, the weather was great, and the experience was amazing!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I've been running a marathon almost monthly so I knew I had trained for this course. I also ran REVEL Canyon City, so I have the experience on how to run downhill.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Start off easy, let gravity get you to your ideal pace, once the you start the second half, then it is time to start push heart out!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

It's Las Vegas, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, unless you PR/BQ!
