    2. Describe your race day.

This run was really fun. I thought it was gonna be colder, but it was perfect the way it was.

    3. Did you PR?

Sure did! I paced my friend and I could've reached my sub 2 time but I decided to hang out with her and cross the finish with hee.

    4. How would you describe the course?

It was beautiful!! Seeing the snow capped mountain was cool. The elevation was fine, my quads got the works! I thought my knees would feel it more.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I'm terrible at training. I did do another half method 3wks ago..and the only other time I run is on the wknds. And Ive only done maybe 9 miles at the most. And during the week if I do go put is when I take my dogs out. I don't have a specificx plan but as long as I get a run in before a race, I'm ok.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Poop before the run!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live in Las Vegas. I would love to do the rockies next year.

    2. Describe your race day.

A big thank you to Anna and the whole crew for an amazing event. Two things I would like to mention. I ran the half and used your 1:30 pacer, Ray Fong. Let me tell you, I have run many, many races and Ray was the absolute best pacer I have ever run with. He gave us exact splits at every mile. He stayed EXACTLY on pace. He was encouraging. He never let the sign down. He had the group scoot over to make room for runners getting water at aid stations. I could go on and on. You should seek him out for other events!
Having said that, after I finished the half (3rd place AG thanks to Ray's pacing!), I went to spectate the full. Your 3:15 pacer came in around 3:10, alone. I may have these times slightly off but I do remember him coming in five minutes or so fast. This is wrong. People depend on his pacing. It seems he came out just for himself. Even the announcer said something. Overall great experience.

    3. Did you PR?

      PR'd the half at 1:29 by 12 minutes :)

    4. How would you describe the course?

Road conditions were nice, newly paved surface.
The half was indeed descending for about 8 miles but not as steep as I thought it would be. Very nice.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I come from a triathlon background. I was ready for this, but I would recommend incorporating some long dowhill runs in preparation for this race.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Introduce yourself to your intended pacer before the start. Specifically ask that person if they intend to stick with even splits. If not, what is their strategy? Will he/she finish at their sign time?

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

The official Station Hotel/Casino at the bottom was a great 'find'
Marie Calendar's pie at the finish was delicious!
The park at the finish was big, clean, and fun!

    2. Describe your race day.

The view from the start at Mt Charleston was spectacular, and the weather was perfect, but I was truly prepared for the fast descent. By mile 11 my legs felt shredded and I had to do some walking. But towards the end, I recovered and finished the Last 2-Miles almost as well as I had started. It was unfortunate that most of the celebrations were over by the time I finished, but the vendor selling shirts and stuff was very hospitable.

    3. Did you PR?

No, but I came within 5-minutes, which is good enough for me as my Marathon finishing times are gradually inching their way towards getting a new PR.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Scenic and Fast!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I've even going through Marathon training since last August and this Marathon was my 3rd in the last 8-months. Although I was ready for the distance, I was not ready for the fast descents on this course. The bad thing is there's nothing like this in San Antonio, Texas so it's nearly impossible to train properly for Mt Charleston.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train on fast descents wherever you can find them!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Went to visit the World Famous Pawn Shop, from the TV show "Pawn Stars", in downtown Las Vegas.

      Awesome! Everything ran very smoothly!

    3. Did you PR?

      Yes! 10 minutes

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Beautiful and fast!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I wasn't able to train as much due to an injury

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We saw a sign for donkeys while driving the course and then actually saw a ton of donkeys!

    2. Describe your race day.

This was a great race because the organizers did a fantastic job. Transportation was smooth, great support at each stop, lots of porta- potties, clearly marked route with police support, wonderful finish area! One on the best races that I have participated in! BTW- the electronic updates and race website was great!

    3. Did you PR?

Are you kidding! I'm 59 so I was happy to finish under my end time goal!

    4. How would you describe the course?

I did the half so the down hill was gradual. It was a good mix of down, flat and a small amount of uphill. However, that last small hill at mile 12.5-bad

    5. Tell us about your training.

Not to bore with a huge training log but I did have some challenges. I got pneumonia after a very nasty upper respiratory infection so I lost a whole month of training time. I found an 8 week half marathon training schedule at Runner's World that got me back on track- it was excellent.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Course tips-be prepared to layer. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate before, during, and after!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Pictures with friends, looked at the vendors, enjoyed the live music, ate some post race pie (awesome). I am local from Henderson but still booked a hotel close to the race start due to the early bus times.

    2. Describe your race day.

It was amazing. Beautiful course and awesome volunteers!

    3. Did you PR?

I did! I PR'd by ten minutes. I was only 8 minutes away from my goal, so maybe next time:)

    4. How would you describe the course?

Scenery was amazing, elevation was perfect

    5. Tell us about your training.

I did downhill training for this course. I also did a lot of research on downhill form, to keep my legs from hurting so much. Downhill works the muscles way different so I definitely recommend reading up and finding what works for you!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Aliante casino, Santa Fe Station, and Red Rock casino are the closest places aside from Mt Charleston Resort. Vegas has a ton of dining options. Bring layers, Mt Charleston/ Kyle Canyon is a higher elevation and cooler weather. Typically it is quite warm this time of year but we were experiencing snow on higher elevations and rain at the lower.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

There were a lot of activities, I just hung out with people I knew and I had to leave right after, but they had a really nice set up at the finish.
I live in Las Vegas, right near the course actually.

    2. Describe your race day.

The shuttle busses were very nice and the start holding area was nice and spacious. The weather turned out great. I was really wonderful that we were given gloves, hats, and mylar blankets. That was a nice touch.
Note: The start was confusing. The pacers were all at the front. There was not enough time from when we walked to the start area and when we started. There was no announcement, no National Anthem, nothing to indicate we were going. We were all surprised that we started.

    3. Did you PR?

      Yes I did!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was beautiful, the hill grad was nice and steady.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I did an 18 week plan running 4 times a week. I did not train on hills so I am very sore.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Trust your training.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Nothing. The finish shoot was too short. Didn't give runners enough time to cool down before they had to leave the area. Some were to cool down and then come back for a slice of pie but were not aloud to repenter the area. The band was nice. I am local.

    2. Describe your race day.

The only negative was having to get up at 2am! I had a drive from Henderson & picked up a friend downtown.
All the positives outweighed the above. EVERYONE, staff, volunteers, cheering people, and even other runners, were absolutely wonderful. It was fun, and the views were spectacular!

    3. Did you PR?

No. I had just completed a half marathon six days earlier in CA. I knew I would be walking most of it.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Loved it! Perfect weather too.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Walking and running three days on, one off. Some hiking. Some biking.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Check the weather! See the course, if possible. I dressed in very thin layers. I took Advil prior to, and during the run. Have fun!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Day before walked three miles. Had a really good meal. Went to bed early. Brunch tomorrow!
