    2. Describe your race day.

The race was amazing!! I had a great time out there on the course. I relaxed and just ran and still managed to get a PR!! I got to meet up with old friends at the start and even met up with Facebook friends I had never met.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes, I did get a PR. It was by a little over 5 minutes.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was great!! The scenery was nice.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I don't really "train" for races because my base mileage daily is more than enough to run a half or even a full at any given time.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Be aware that the constant downhill pounding can bring pain to the toes, knees or quads.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We went to the strip and we went out to eat at the Cheesecake Factory.

We drove to Las Vegas from El Paso TX.

    2. Describe your race day.

Had a great bus mate. I looked her up post race and she PR'd and BQ'd by 7 minutes!

    3. Did you PR?

I had a 9 plus minute PR. Gaining on that BQ.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Love the course, especially the first 11 miles, beautiful. The sunrise was inspiring this year. The grade and elevation are why I love Revel courses. I like this finish better than last year.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I ran a lot of hills both up and down. I did half of my race pace runs downhill. I need to work on sustaining long tempo or pace later in my training long runs. More lower leg strength training.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Dress warm....it's a cold start. Drop bags are allowed 15 minutes before race so that makes it easy to keep warm. Dress to run for the warmer finish temp and not the starting temp( layers). Wear cushioned fore foot shoes. Pre-race meal Yardhouse penne with chicken no sauce with a little olive oil!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Local. Drove the course spent a little time enjoying the beauty of Mt Charleston.

    2. Describe your race day.

The morning started with a beautiful sunrise!

    3. Did you PR?

I beat my previous PR by almost 5 minutes

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was on a nice, smooth paved road, the weather was cool and the gentle downhill slope made for a fast start. I really couldn't help but smile for the first nine miles or so. Tons of fun!

    5. What advice would you give future runners?

Dress in layers for the start. But it warmed up quickly. Stay near the finish. It would be hard to get back up to a hotel near the start while people are still racing, especially if you're running the half.

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Flew in from Albuquerque, NM. We stayed on the strip the night after the race. Stayed at the Wynn, ate there and saw a show.

    2. Describe your race day.

Caught the shuttle to the start at about 5am, very smooth. Plenty of potties at the start. Loved running the downhill course and enjoyed the route changes from last year. Pizza and pie at the finish were awesome and love the medal!

One recommendation: both years it felt like there wasn't really an "official" start for the half. It felt like once you walked from the potties to the start line, you pretty much just started. Maybe some sort of air horn or something to signal the start?

    3. Did you PR?

I was not doing this race for time, so no. We did, however, set a PR for fun

    4. How would you describe the course?

Fast, smooth downhill in the high desert.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I recently used a Hal Higdon marathon training plan and just kept my mileage up after the full marathon in February

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Bring plenty of layers, it is cold at the start!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I came from Phoenix, AZ. We mainly just had a relaxing weekend away from our kids.

    2. Describe your race day.

A beautiful and wicked fast course! I couldn't believe how strong I felt. From start to finish I was nothing but amazed. Excellent job with the course and race organization. Wonderful pacers, excellent post race massage, and free photos. I will definitely be back!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! I bet my prior PR by 10 minutes and Boston qualified with 7 minutes to spare!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Stunning! Fast! The first half of the marathon course is steepest. The grade became more gradual at the halfway point but still made me feel speedy. The downhill felt amazing. Pure running bliss. The whole time the view overlooks the mountains. By far the most scenic course I've run.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Training consisted of a mix of downhill running and flat runs. I did one race simulation run which consisted of 16 miles downhill followed by 3 miles of rolling hills. This made me feel mentally prepared for race day and gave me a good idea of what my legs might feel like and what pace I could hold. I definitely felt my training prepared me well.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Be prepared for weather variations. The start was quite cold (40) but by the time I finished it was hot. Bring layers you don't mind shedding after the first mile or so. There was also lots of wind on the course due to it being so open. This made for a great tail wind at times. During times where the wind is a head wind tuck into a group of runners to conserve energy. Just make sure to do some downhill training and you're going to really enjoy this course!

    2. Describe your race day.

Race day was great! Very well organized & enjoyed the race very much!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes!! I got 1 hr 39 min! 4th in my age division!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was great! It was very well done & mapped out! Having metro patrol the course, especially in the residential areas was great as well.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Unfortunately, due to my shoes hurting my feet, I did not get to train (ie run) as much as I would have wanted or normally do. I only got my race shoes about 2 weeks before, however I was still doing at home workouts, but of course that is not the same as running. For the lack of training I did, I was still very happy with my performance and time. (Usually I would run 2-3 times a week, one of those days being my long day, building up to 13 miles, adding 1 mile each week)

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

If you want to PR or at least know your speed bring some sort of tracker (I use an app on my phone) that tells you how fast & how many miles you've gone. It was great, so that way I knew if I should maintain or adjust my pace. Dress in layers & with clothes you don't care about and would be happy to give to charity. If anything you could go to a thrift shop and buy whatever you're going to wear and get rid of it along the course because the lower you go it does get warmer!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Not much. I live here. :)

    2. Describe your race day.

Race day was beautiful! It was the Perfect day to run. Very emotional running down the course thinking how lucky I am to be able to run. Never giving up even though I battle with Heart Disease. Knowing that I can still do one of the things I love most means so much to me.
Everything about this race went smoothly and was very impressed with it overall. I will be running it next year but doing the full Marathon.

    3. Did you PR?

I finally broke my PR in a 1/2 marathon by one minute.

    4. How would you describe the course?

It was a great downhill course. Not too steep.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Cross training is key to prevent injuries. In between runs doing CrossFit helped strengthen my body.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Have fun and enjoy the view. Take it all in & keep running. Don't slow down just push through it all

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Traveled from Salt Lake City to St. George where I met up with my friends and drove down to Las Vegas. We had a great time shopping and dining out.
