    2. Describe your race day.

I was excited, but scared. Mt. Hood was my first Full Marathon and I did not know what to expect.

I experienced every emotion possible; quite simply, I loved it.

    3. Did you PR?

No, but this run gave me a basis for additional runs in the future.

    4. How would you describe the course?

I loved the first 14/15 miles - then it got progressively hard. When you're going down, then gaining elevation - it just really hurts.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I live in Alaska, I do a lot of outdoor running with my dogs and run a casual 4/5 miles a day about 5/6 times a week.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Just click submit, process your payment, and no regrets.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Following the race, me and my family went to Bend, Oregon to relax.

      It was not great

      Hills after mile 21!

    2. Describe your race day.

Woke up at 2:20 to catch the bus from Portland, then waited 90 minutes in the cold to start at 5:30. The support along the race was AWESOME!

    3. Did you PR?

No. 10 minutes slower than my pr.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Not all downhill.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I run 1/2 marathon distance or more 2-3 times once a month. I’m training for my 3rd full in October. I am a half fanatic so this distance is not new for me. :) it’s my favorite distance.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

It’s not a fast downhill course at the 1/2 distance. It is a gradual slope but not a fast downhill.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Portland post race beers. Hood river too.

    2. Describe your race day.

The scenery! The course is absolutely beautiful. More than once I wished I could slow down and take in the view.

    3. Did you PR?

A 4 minute PR and my first time qualifying for Boston. The course and weather really helped me alot.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The first half is downhill. Seriously downhill. Steep downhill that makes you feel like you are flying. The second half is rolling hills. The hills are harmless enough but if you've been pushing hard on the downhill you are really going to feel those small uphills.

    5. Tell us about your training.

When I train for Mt Hood next time I will definitely incorporate more hills in my long run.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      1. Register early so you get an early wave. It was rather sunny and warm towards the end of my race and having started just 15 minutes earlier in wave 1 would have helped.
      2. Don't be late for the bus. Be early. If you're early, there's no wait and no stress.
      3. Personally, I went as fast as I could for the first half, taking full advantage of the downhill and letting my legs turnover as quick as I could. I wanted to have a time cushion to get me through the rolling hills of the second half. I made my BQ time with almost 5 minutes to spare so the strategy worked for me.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Visit Portland and enjoy some good food.

    2. Describe your race day.

Keep in mind I absolutely love Revel races and I’ll be doing my third this year at big cottonwood. The race was good. Although downhill overall it didn’t feel like it with the hills and mostly just felt level. Which definitely was easier on the knees and I was much less sore than with the Rockies race. My only issue is with the aid stations. There was only two aid stations with energy gels when the map indicated there would be more. The last time I saw anything with sugar besides power aid was mile 8 aid station. I was greatly looking forward to the Doterra deep blue rub and otter pops because they were sooo helpful for the last revel race but although they were supposed to be at three aid stations, they were at one. One of therevel employees had told us that there would be people there to help us rub it on our legs at all the indicated stations but there wasn’t. With the otter pops I had been asking stations if they had them and nobody knew. I happened to see a cooler with a pair of scissors on it and asked if maybe it had otter pops. The poor kid had no idea. But there was some in it! Yayyyyyy. Not all of them were frozen which might have been the issue with the shortage. It was getting warmer til the end and at mile 9 I hit a massive wall and was in great need of some sugars but that’s where the issue with the gels and otter pops came into play. I took advantage of not needing my own nutrition because of aid stations at previous races so it was my own fault for not carrying something with me.

Another thing is how many people were wearing headphones despite us being told it would be against the rules. I saw multiple people almost get run over by cars cause they weren’t able to hear. I think if headphones aren’t going to be allowed for safety, then it should be enforced.

Overall I still love revel races and I can’t wait for big cottonwood!

    3. Did you PR?

I did not. I was 23 minutes slower than the Rockies race.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Not as downhill as I expected from revel races. Felt more like a typical race but was easier on the knees.

    5. Tell us about your training.

For more steep races I will work on hills more. I didn’t have too hard a time with this though.

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Wine tasting and sight seeing. One of the reasons we love traveling for these races

    2. Describe your race day.

So many memorable moments....but the start with the full moon setting as we flew down those first 6 miles was amazing

    3. Did you PR?

I set a 13 year PR in April (2017) at Mt Charleston. I came within 8 minutes of that PR and was absolutely thrilled. I qualified for Boston by 11 minutes!!! So happy.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The first 6 miles were amazing...the next 10 were great...the following 6 were pretty good the next 3 were brutal...the last mile was AMAZING. Once off 26 and so close to the finish through that lovely neighborhood was just gorgeous and thank goodness it was net downhill.

    5. Tell us about your training.

It is a good idea to do a lot of hill training. Cross-training and quad and calve strengthening and stretching. I do well on downhill but it is not for everyone and I spoke with many runners whose quads were just trashed by the time they got to mile 20.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Stay at Timberline Lodge, but figure out your finish exit plan ahead of time. Leave a car in Sandy the night before if possible or have supporters available to pick you up...but Timberline Lodge is the place to be before and after your race.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Did a shake out run at Timothy Lake. Ate at Timberline. Post race back to Timberline to relax by the pool. I traveled from New YOrk City.
