    2. Describe your race day.

race was great, last 3 miles of half were brutal though. not enough shade and uphills after such downhill was tough. the frozen icees were liquid, the water was warm, just when we needed it to be coldest the mostest... made for a tough finish.

    3. Did you PR?

didn't pr, but was on track for a serious PR until that last 3 miles of no shade and heat

    4. How would you describe the course?

scenery was gorgeous, course was super fast the first half. that last 3 miles left a lot to be desired. by the time I hit the last 3 miles, my quads felt like vomit flavored jello... something that I have never felt during a downhill race (only in the 24-48 hrs after), probably due to the sudden incline at mile 10-11?

    5. Tell us about your training.

don't eat raw fish the morning of a race. that was a mistake.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

prepare for really cold AND really hot for the race. with the elevation change, its bound to get warmer when it is already warming up over the course of a race

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

mcmenamins edgewater is right there, and the race was the day before jerry garcia's birthday. with McMenamins being such a huge influence on the region and Jerry being so important to the brand, you are bound to find some amazing block parties with good beer. I think the portland beerfest is also the same weekend in downtown. Would also recommend the shanghai tunnels tour in portland...

    2. Describe your race day.

I was concerned about the temperatures before the race, but I was surprised that a majority of the course is shaded. I didn't BQ, but I found everyone friendly and helpful. I consider it a very good training run for my next marathon. I got to see the Portland/Mt Hood area, which is beautiful.

    3. Did you PR?

      No

    4. How would you describe the course?

I was pleasantly surprised that a majority of the course was shaded, which helped later on in the day when it was warmer. It is a downhill race that's steeper at the beginning and gets to be a gentler downhill in the second part of the the full.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I had done the Revel Rockies half and the Slacker Half in preparation, but I still felt my quad during and after the race.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Follow the training downhill training preparation and advice listed on the website.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I visited the Timberline Lodge area at the start and the view of Mt Hood was beautiful.

    3. Did you PR?

      No still trying.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful, a little nervous running on the highway(but it was fine), good support by volunteers(thanks)

    5. Tell us about your training.

    2. Describe your race day.

Beautiful beginning watching the sunrise at Timberline. I loved the descent looking over the valley and into the forests. It so pretty and the weather was incredible.

    3. Did you PR?

No. I should have trained more on coming down hills.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Timberline steep slope in the beginning but it was nice to look over the valley. I loved running through the forests where the trees lined the street on both sides. Past through the little towns (wished there was more fans out). And finished at the fish farm.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Long distances on semi rolling hills. Descended down a few large hills (should have done more). Ran up to 18 miles training averaged 25-30 miles a week .

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Stay in Gresham, Clackasmas, Happy Valley for hotels. Training on a steep descent hill. Do some rolling hills for long days. Don't worry about sweat pants. Double up on socks during the race. I had no blisters or bruised toes.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live locally so I did not travel.

    2. Describe your race day.

The race day started early. Bus ride from hotel to start line was nice, however it did not leave a lot of time to prepare for the race once at the start line. By the time we were done waiting in line for restroom the race was about ready to start. I was in Wave 1 and when we walked to the start line, there was little warning the race was about to start. The course was nice, downhill was very steep. It was a little uncomfortable running next to the fast traffic, some cones in the narrower portions of the course would give some comfort. I appreciate the course and the fact that it get's tough at mile 20, like most marathons.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes, I did, by 39 minutes. I also qualified for the Boston Marathon :)

    4. How would you describe the course?

Stunning visuals, beautiful and scenic. Trees, mountains, fresh air and peaceful. Steep, fast at beginning, difficult at end. It's good it started early because it did get warm, but that was probably unusual.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I trained using coach Paul and the Revel Program along with my personal coach at my running club (he would be a great revel coach too). The revel program was excellent and Paul was great and took time to personally answer my questions. I have recommended it to a few people who have signed up for the Big Bear race. The only thing I would do differently is reduce the intensity of the training during the final two taper weeks. By that point the training is complete and your just maintaining. I suffered a injury during the last 200/200 workout that jeopardized my race and I really had nothing to gain at that point.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Relax and Enjoy the race, have fun. Take advantage of the shuttle busses. Have some throw away clothes to keep warm at the start.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Ate at local restaurants, drove the course, enjoyed the expo. I traveled form Los Angeles

    2. Describe your race day.

The first 5 miles were stunning. Full moon over the mountains with dawn breaking. Super fast course for 15 miles, hanging on for 5 more, then working hard for final 10K.

    3. Did you PR?

      No

    4. How would you describe the course?

Fast for 15 miles. The grade for miles 6-15 was great.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Trained with Revel Online Coaching Program. It has helped me prepare for 17 Revel marathons.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Train specifically for downhill.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Visited the Timberline Lodge before race day.

    2. Describe your race day.

Up at 1. On the bus at 2:30. Arrived 4 something. Started at 5:15. Finished around 10:45. Walked the last 10 miles. Met some nice people. Saw a beautiful state that I've never seen before. Enjoyed running down hill very much.

    3. Did you PR?

No. I had only trained up to 15 miles. Plus I had leg cramping issues. It wasn't my race but it was fast (for the first 15 miles) and pretty.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful and very fast for the first 15 miles.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I live in Florida. There are no training groups near me which sucks. I train on a treadmill indoors on Sundays. I only got up to 15 miles.

I moved from Chicago to FL 2 years ago. In Chicago I had a running group that stuck to the Hal Hidgons plan. I've run 2 Revels in 2015. No issues cause I had a running group/support.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

You need to train up to 20 miles period.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I got a spray tan and had Chipotle. That's it.

I traveled to Portland from Sarasota FL
