    2. Describe your race day.

I followed the suggestion from the coach at the Expo. saying do not slow down unless you feel uncomfortable. It was successful and I PRed by about 30 min.

    3. Did you PR?

I PRed by about 30 min. BQed with more than 20 min buffer.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The start line was not as cold as expected. Wasn't exposed to sun until the last quarter.
Had to stay road side, felt a bit danger when pass the others.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I didn't do any specific training for the down hill marathon.
I felt the danger of leg cramp about the half, luckily endured whole the race.
For general marathon I won't get any muscle ache, but I got it this time and couldn't recover a few days.
Maybe I used the muscle don't use in the flat course.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

The shuttle returns to the half marathon shuttle departure place. Might have problem if I didn't record the parking place on my cell.

    2. Describe your race day.

Up early, I live in Sandy so it was a bit odd that I still had to take a shuttle in my backyard, but it all worked out fine.
Many of my friends ran this race, 40 or so, so it was a nice little party on the route .
Loved the route, after party at the trout farm, was a great day. Revel did an all around great job in all aspects of the event, I didn’t seem like a first time event at all.

    3. Did you PR?

No, I’d been injured so I just wanted to cover the distance and have fun.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Gradual downhill a few inclines which I found were a nice change of pace for a moment. Very shaded and scenic. The early start ensured a cool comfortable run. The camber when entering on Hwy 26 for the last few miles was a challenge as I expected. Overall a nice course. The signage was amazing and well designed for visibility and placement. No chance to get lost. The volunteers were everywhere and helpful. Water and portaPotties were spaced every few miles.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I knew I was under trained because of a knee issue, I just wanted to go out and run in my neighborhood with my friends. I managed to run 11 miles on 5.4 miles of distance training, very surprised.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

I’m not sure what other training you can do other than downhill running for a course like this. I imagine It’s hard to find a compairable elevation drop.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live a couple miles from the finish line and run in the area. My running club Eastwind runs the 6 miles from Timberline to Govt. Camp for fun cause it a beautiful route. It’s good to blast the legs every once in a while.

    2. Describe your race day.

      The view
The scenery of the first 10km is amazing

    3. Did you PR?

Really not. I did my worst Time ever.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Very difficult. The fisrt 20km downhill are « legs brokers «

    5. Tell us about your training.

I was training very well but i dont except the violence of the downhill. It was my only and bigger mistake. I dont know how i can training for that

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Do 200 squat Per day at minimum

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      Baseball Mariners Seattle

    2. Describe your race day.

Insanely early call time to board shuttles. Not much light at the start. But this also allowed an early finish time, before the course heated up.
Aid on the course was pretty good.
Finish area at the trout farm had too many mosquitoes. Would have liked vegan-friendly food/drink at the finish. Waited an excessive amount of time for the shuttle to return to parking at Sandy HS. Got bitten by more mosquitoes while waiting.

    3. Did you PR?

No PR, missed by 7 minutes. No BQ.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Scenic & shady, quite pleasant. Except for the short stretch on hwy 26 which was sun-exposed and noisy from traffic. This was not an all-downhill race. The grade for the half marathon was shallow decline and some shallow incline.

    2. Describe your race day.

We had perfect conditions on race day. Since we stayed at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Portland and had a 5:30am start time, we had to wake up @ 2:30 in order to drive the 40 minute drive to Sandy High School where we caught the bus to the starting gate. We started at 5:32. The fuel/food and various booths at the finish were fantastic and the aid stations were plentiful and always stocked with great volunteers.

    3. Did you PR?

I ran a 3:13 which is a 16 minute PR! I missed boston by just over 3 minutes.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was great. Of course there was a monster downhill for the first 13 miles with a much more gradual decline for the last 13 intermixed with a few small inclines. The only complaint was a sign that read "It's all downhill from here" after a longer hill, which turned out to be a lie; not cool!

    5. Tell us about your training.

Lots of downhill training helped prep me for the first half. Make sure you find some long steep declines to train on and experiment with different fuels to see what works best for you.

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

the picture backdrop was cool. All the food and beverages were much appreciated. The finisher card they gave you was cool. I ran the race with a couple of buddies. We came from the Tri-Cities, WA

    2. Did you PR?

Yes I broke my PR by over four minutes for the half marathon from 1:24:47 to 1:20:43.

    3. How would you describe the course?

Fast and downhill. Even grade and not hard on the knees.

    2. Describe your race day.

Early start to the day, not as cold as my previous Revel race in Colorado so a positive start :-)

    3. Did you PR?

No PR but already had BQ. Although this is a downhill course due to the nature of the grandients in the first half and second half I don't think it is as fast as it looks

    4. How would you describe the course?

First half is fast but it can be punishing on old legs. The change of gradient around the half way point leaves you feeling sluggish on heavy legs

    5. Tell us about your training.

My main challenge is living in a very flat area at sea level so had to travel to do hill specific training but didn't manage to do this nearly enough. Lots of long slow runs as well as speed work so my base fitness was good but it is difficult to train for the pounding your legs get downhill running living in flatlands

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train on terrain specific to the Revel courses, i.e. lots of downhill running and speed work

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Helped my panicing friend find her glasses in the finish area then stood in the queue for the bus to take us back to the car park

    2. Describe your race day.

I flew 17 hrs from Delhi, India to run this race. And it was flawless in it's organisation, awesome in it's Swag, and Jaw Dropping in it's beauty!. It's a really fast course which needs specific training and strategic running on race day! . Coach Paul is a treasure of running information and shares it so willingly. I became a much better, faster and stronger runner by just training for and running this marathon. Thank you to the lovely warm people at Revel, a Big Hug! To all of you.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes by 8 mins over a marathon I ran just 7 weeks before. I ran a 3:26:06 , so missed Boston by 1 minute.

    4. How would you describe the course?

It's a not an easy course. If one is not trained for downhill running, this course will be tough for you. The grade in the first 5 miles is super steep and it really beats up your quads... Then the last 6 miles have long climbs.. hills (or at least they felt that way!) Which only a pair of strong legs will be able to tackle. The scenery was just mind blowing! Mt Hood was pristine and easily the mist beautiful course I have ever run!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I trained for four months for this one.. many downhill repeats were spread out throughout my training plan.. and an essential component of my strength training was doing split squats and going forward I will do much more of those along with eccentric quad strengthening.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train your body, mind and soul for the downhill! Build up leg speed and quad strength. Stay as close to Sandy high school as possible. If you can manage going back up after the race, then staying at Timberline Lodge is perfect way to avoid the early wake up hours. I did that and the lodge is just fabulous. Wear cushioned shoes.. I used the vaporfly 4 . Weather was just ideal for running for me, I was in wave 1.. which is ideal.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Ate a huge slice of pepperoni pizza after the race

Perfect weather, beautiful sceanery, mental breakdown at mile 12 *sad face*

    3. Did you PR?

      Missed achieving sub-2 (half-Marathon) by 47 seconds

    4. How would you describe the course?

Great course that’s not too steep but enough to make you fly. Start was ok and a little crazy walking down a dark road to get to the honey pot waiting area

    2. Describe your race day.

We got up too early & arrived too early, that was the downside to a fantastic day of running filled with wonderful volunteers, happy fellow runners and the most unexpected BQ ever.

    3. Did you PR?

I didn’t PR, but I ran faster than I have in 3 years and managed a BQ I didn’t think I could get!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Legit downhill. The first miles were simply beautiful, the course was well marked and entertaining.

    5. What advice would you give future runners?

      Train for downhill.
