    2. Describe your race day.

Beautiful! Right course, right amount of people, right people running the show.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! By 5 and a half minutes. I have a long way to go to qualify for Boston...I'll need to wait till I'm in my 60s at least!

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Fast! Smooth, safe, interesting.

    5. Tell us about your training.

During my half training I had a 10 month old and a 3 year old and a husband training for the full....so I ran 10 once. And 6 once. And a handful of short runs with the kids in the BOB. Sooooo I just relied on experience and grit to get me through this one. And I PRed! Would not recommend that tactic though....

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Downhill is SO different. I did Revel Big Cottonwood Full Marathon in 2013 and it was the worst race of my life. I trained downhill (living in Vail, CO!) but for some reason popping out of that steep canyon onto the flat for the last few miles was awful. I literally had to walk I was in so much pain. So...definitely train for downhill. And know that for most people it makes you really fast...but for a few people it can really mess with your body.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Tucson Zoo! Yummy Mexican food. BEER! We came from Erie, CO and stayed in Oro Valley with my in-laws.

    2. Describe your race day.

My best memory is the thrill of racing downhill in such a beautiful setting.

    3. Did you PR?

I set a Personal Best by about 17 minutes. Qualifying for Boston was not one of my goals.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The scenery was great. The elevation was fine. I wish the grade was slightly steeper. The only issue I had was the last mile. It would have been much better to continue on the same road rather than running the twisty uphill roads through the neighborhood.

    5. Tell us about your training.

We trained at a higher elevation with about the same grade. I would not have done anything differently.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Drive the course the day before the race so you know what you were facing and that there are some uphill parts of the race.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      Nothing unusual.

We stayed at the Radisson. I would not recommend using them again as a race hotel. They were not cooperative on check in or late check out. They gave us a chapstick & a bag of peanuts. The to go "breakfast was nothing I could use. They kept the pool open until 11 the night before the race & did not supervise the area and did not stop the screaming children & adults playing in the pool & hot tub. The personnel generally had no idea that they were a "race" hotel and knew nothing about the race.

The race itself was very organized. I appreciated that there were sufficient water stops and port-a-potties along the way. Thank you.

The check in and race were well organized. I appreciated that there were sufficient water stops and port-a-potties along the way. The race experience was great. The volunteers and staff could not have been nicer or more enthusiastic.

    2. Describe your race day.

      Great run. Weather was good.

    3. Did you PR?

I didn’t get a PR but I ran a good rac even though I was far from prepared for it.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was very good. Wonderful scenery.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I didn’t actually train much. What I would do differently is train, train, train. My advice would be prepared, lots of hill training.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train on hills. Be prepared for chilly weather,

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Not much. I jus came in for the race & expo. Didn’t have time for anything else.

    2. Describe your race day.

Great race, awesome scenery. I Wish the start area was set up better with food and coffee. Also maybe a tent for warm up. There was not much as far as places to sit and stay warm.

    3. Did you PR?

No. I did not feel good for part of the race. I did okay.

    4. How would you describe the course?

I really liked the course. I think the altitude got to me though.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I train at much lower elevation but I do some hill training.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Try to do some training at high altitude.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

My wife and I went sight seeing around the Tucson area.

    2. Describe your race day.

This was a wonderfully supported race from beginning to end. From the comfortable bus ride up to the top of the mountain, to the space blankets we all received to the large number of potties to the signs of encouragement all the way down the mountain. Great markings and great water stations. Never had a better race and I've done a number of Iron Man Races.

    3. Did you PR?

      YES!!!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Lovely. Good roads, good signage. Wonderful to see the sun coming up as we ran down the mountain.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I did the Chicago Marathon about a month prior but had never done a downhill race before. They are right, it is fast! But great fun.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Don't be afraid, get out there and give it a try.

Beautiful course. Coming across the finish line.

    3. Did you PR?

      Yes. 9 minutes

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful. Grade was managable, easier to handle than some of the steeper revels. The course map makes it seem very steep btw

    5. Tell us about your training.

To do any revel the training is the same, you must get downhill MILES in

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Don't fight the hill, let gravity do half the work for you. Clothing; dress for the run not for the time before the start ie leggings and long sleeves not the best idea, revel does a better than any other race of of taking care you before run

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Davis montham air force base is nearby check out the boneyard.
      Came in from colorado

    2. Describe your race day.

The race had some small hills during the first 4 miles but then after that it was clear sailing back down! The course was spectacular. I have completed the marathon distance at all the Revel locations and Mt. Lemmon may have the best combination of downhill/scenery. The race volunteers and Revel crew were amazing. The entire event was well organized from the bus ride up the hill to the shuttles back to the cars afterward. This is definitely a repeat run:-).

    3. Did you PR?

I run to run. I don't run for time so I did not PR. I ran it because I've ran Revel before and love the organization. Did I BQ? Nope but I run because I love it and love the people that I meet and the great places that I get to see.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course is beautiful. The first four miles of climb makes you appreciate the downhill even more. Winding down the mountain, nestled in the canyon seeing all the wonderful rock formations was amazing!

    5. What advice would you give future runners?

Practice running downhill whenever possible - shorten the stride and don't think that gravity will just take you down the hill. You still need to pace yourself.

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We live close (Phoenix) but we actually had dinner the night before at Casa Molina - fabulous place that had wonderful Vegetarian Fajitas.

    2. Describe your race day.

I got up, drove to the bus, boarded, got to the start line, ran, drove home, had a lovely run.
I loved the scenery. The people running the race were positive. Thank you.

    3. Did you PR?

No. I was hoping to beat at least my 5 years ago PR, not my PR from fast years about 20 years ago :) But I did run about 4 minutes faster than last year's Veteran's Day half and it was just as beautiful if not more so!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Gorgeous! Amazing views. Green trees, pines as well as cacti and canyons!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I have been running marathons, I do about 5 a year, the last was about a year ago, so this was a half in between. I had already run a recent full and signed up for Tucson, so this one was too close in between them both. But I will think of doing the full next year maybe!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Love it. Enjoy it.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live in the area. I went home to enjoy my garden.

    2. Describe your race day.

Such a well managed race and it seems to have been set up by runners, who know what’s important when you cross the finish line. A cool towel, massage and other amenities. Friendly staff!!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! By almost 7 minutes! No BQ, but that wasn’t my goal.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Loved it, but that last mile was tough. My goal next year, is to run that last mile without stopping! The scenery was breathtaking and we even hiked the day before to 7 Falls.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I’m a pace leader with the Riverside Road Runners. Long runs are Sunday mornings and shorter runs during the week if possible. I also train in martial arts 5 days a week (Jiu Jitsu and Tae Kwon Do)

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Join a running club to help with a training schedule, to ensure they remain injury free while working up to long miles.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Had fun trying new restaurants and went hiking, with a massage later that same day.
