    2. Describe your race day.

Amazing views, great volunteers, wonderful race support!

    3. Did you PR?

It was my first marathon, I ran it 30 minutes faster than I anticipated thanks to that glorious downhill course. Although I’m quite sore from it.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Scenic, varied and beautiful. It smelled like piñon and sage.

    5. Tell us about your training.

My longest run was 17 miles, with trails. I ran most of my later longer runs on the trails which helped with my cadence, downhill training and conditioning me on time on my feet. I hiked a lot of those trail runs.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train on hills! Wear a long sleeve layer for the first half, and wear it around your waist or abandon it for the sunny less-shaded second half. Lube up your toes and keep your toenails short. Those piggies will get a little beating on this downhill course.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I was zipping all over Tucson before the race, going to the expo and my hotel and checking out local store Summit Hut. I stayed at La Quinta on Broadway, nice facility for a fair price and close to a lot of restaurants. I traveled from Sierra Vista, AZ, about an hour and a half away.

    2. Describe your race day.

Your crew at the drop off and parking area this morning was incredible! My husband was able to quickly drop me off and head back home. The staff directed everyone to the correct busses and we headed up the mountain. The views were amazing and the weather was perfect!

    3. Did you PR?

I set a PR for this race (it was my first time running it), but not a marathon PR. I honestly had a set pace goal I was trying to maintain in preparation for a 50 mile race I have coming up.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was great until Mile 21 and then things got a bit irritating. The aid stations at miles 21 and 23 were already packing up and no longer encouraging runners or offering drinks. The mile 25 station was shut down COMPLETELY! This is not acceptable race behavior. And there were 65 runners that came in after I did!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I did not get in nearly as many downhill miles as I would have liked, but most of my training runs had to be done while pushing a stroller.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Make sure to carry your own water and nutrition (I’m glad I do) because you can’t guarantee the aid stations will stay open.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We live in town so we just went home. I had a husband and 4 small children waiting at the finish for me.

    2. Describe your race day.

Although we got off to a late start the sunrise was spectacular and the day was perfect. The traffic control was exceptional and staff and volunteers were wonderful.

    3. Did you PR?

      No

    4. How would you describe the course?

      It was beautiful.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I do strength training and functional training. I do not specifically train for marathons. I am older and my training is for my overall functionality, non-specific for any one thing. My focus is to finish as opposed to time.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Enjoy!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I was here briefly, but am planning on returning with my family to see more of Tucson.

    2. Describe your race day.

Started off cold and dark and then the sun showed up.

    3. Did you PR?

No - it’s been awhile - finishing was my goal- under 2.5 hours would’ve been great. But it did not happen.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful! I did a trial run 4 weeks ago.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I followed a 12 week training with Higdon? I had a personal trainer too.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Clear your mind and have fun!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      Met people from different states

    2. Describe your race day.

My four year old daughter and mom came with me from Nebraska, so they got to watch me finish, which was awesome! The course was so beautiful!!

    3. Did you PR?

      Yes! By 29 minutes

    4. How would you describe the course?

I loved the scenery farther up the canyon most and the morning sunrise was beautiful! The elevation was great and grade was perfect -mostly downhill with a few flats allowed for a break here and there!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I trained on flat ground at 1800 - 2000 feet. I ran about 15-20 miles per week.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

If you want a great first experience, a Run Revel race would be great for you!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We came from Nebraska and spent a few days in Scottsdale before the race!

    2. Describe your race day.

I’d say the best thing about this race was meeting new, like-minded people (those who woke up at 3 AM to subject themselves to 13.1 miles of running).

    3. Did you PR?

I beat my personal record by just a few minutes!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Super scenic! I loved the sunrise in the morning. It’s not everyday you get to see the sun shining over those mountain peaks.

    2. Describe your race day.

Pretty awesome: well organized from the loading area to the end. Comfortable coach buses to the start, the Mt. Lemmon community center was open for us. Beautiful views/ pine trees at the start. 26.2 miles of downhill later... a great finish with good food, Lagunitas beer and easy loading buses back to the car. The Pima County Sheriff's dept did a great job of keeping cars limited and organized: a big shout out to them. Thank you to all the volunteer crews who passed out water/ Powerade and kept on encouraging. I finished much stronger than expected and did make my BQ time!

    3. Did you PR?

      No, but did BQ

    4. How would you describe the course?

Down, down, down.... I live in Tucson, I love Mt. Lemmon: it is one of my favorite places. I loved the opportunity to run down the Catalina Highway and really observe all the climate zones/ scenery

    5. Tell us about your training.

Trained w/ group of running friends: just put in the miles....

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Enjoy the day! Re; weather: it was not as cold at the top as listed on weather apps: did not need multiple layers. The desert gets hot as soon as sun comes up: dress for the end of the race!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Live here... For out of town guests, I would alway recommend Saguaro National Park, Tohono Chul Botanic Garden or the AZ Sonora Desert Museum
