    2. Describe your race day.

Perfect weather, well organized, beautiful fast course - probably the fastest Boston qualifying course!

    3. Did you PR?

No, but I’m 60 years old! Can’t beat my 3:13 time, but if I ran this course 20 years ago, I probably would’ve done better than that. Qualified for Boston yesterday with a 3:35 time. Boston 2020!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Great fast course - slight uphills that don’t punish your legs, with plenty of downhills in between, then all downhill after mile 9. First time I did negative splits on a marathon....did second half 9 minutes faster than first half!

    5. Tell us about your training.

Good training - not a fanatic. Just 4 days/week alternating long runs, easy recovery, intervals/hills,, and tempo. Long run easy 22 miles, three weeks before marathon then taper off and very easy final week.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

If you want to PR or qualify for Boston, this is the course! With good training, you should do well. Don’t push or burn your legs out on the slight uphills....you’ll make up time on the downhills....Definitely include downhill training...it’ll make the downhills enjoyable and effortless.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      Just grabbed a Blondie(beer) afterwards. Should’ve picked up a Boston qualifying print-out.
I didnt travel much for this one - just an hour’s drive from Glendale.

    2. Describe your race day.

The whole experience was memorable! I spent it with an amazing friend and proved that I was able to overcome the pain I deal with from Endometriosis to finish!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes I did by 22minutes I believe :) on my half marathon time

    4. How would you describe the course?

The scenery was great and the course was awesome

    5. Tell us about your training.

My training was terrible. Needed to train more but had reason that kept me from accomplishing that.
Advice would be to train your knees and ankles for down hill

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Don’t start off as fast as you want to save your energy a little more.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We went shopping at target and had some fun at an In n Out! Sounds weird but we made it a good time!

    2. Describe your race day.

It was fun,but my only suggestion between Mile 18-22 I didn't feel safe. The reason I am saying this is because 2 cars were too close in heatting me.I feel as a aththle is being a safe.I feel if the cones are going to be move at a certain time the cops or volunteer should line up more so we could run. There was a area that u had to squeeze in because the car were to close and u could even run.Overall it's a beautiful course and I had a great time.Like I say.Mile 18-22 should be more safer for the ATHLETE No matter what.

    3. Did you PR?

      Yes I did

    4. How would you describe the course?

For the First Half couple of Hills, but once u hit Mile 13 is perfect

    5. Tell us about your training.

6 Months of training for the Full
      Train indoor and Outdoor

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Have a blast like i did.Its a beautiful course.I enjoy this course more than the Canyon one(I do miss that race)

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

    2. Describe your race day.

Fantastic Marathon,,,best to date of 27. Revel Rocks,,,,great weather, good strong challenging and fast course, beautiful scenery, perfect 2 mile spread aid stations with porta potties, very strong runners, smiles from beginning to the glorious finish line. The word gets out from this race and both this and Mt. CHarleston will be the go to races to go blazing if in fit running shape. Finish line was perfect, visible for almost a mile so it brought us tired runners home with a desire to finish strong.......Thanks Revel for another great Marathon. Also, nearly Pr'd and got a good BQ time with the new standards, ok for an old 62 year old male. Proud of your efforts, Big Thanks to the volunteers, all were positive and fun. See you next year,,,,,,,Mike in San Diego

    3. Did you PR?

Almost, but got a solid BQ for next Boston,,,,Big Smile

    4. How would you describe the course?

Overall fast,,,,a bit challenging the first half, with two grinding hills, but the downhill made up for it from 10-20, directions on the course were spot on as to what to expect and how to run it....if all the runners followed it, there would be even stronger finishes. I did, and it worked out great. Pretty course up to 23 miles then the grind to the finish. Great aid stations, great volunteers, sheriff was good at patrolling and directing traffic, wonderful finishline and goodies, more banked asphalt than expected but it switch from side to side so one leg wasnt overstressed, smooth apshalt, elevation caused a bit of breathing stress to about mile 10,,,but followed directions and just took it easy till then, scenery top notch, its nice looking at greenery instead of dry brown california, air was fresh, never crowded from the start, potties and buses very good,

    5. Tell us about your training.

I feel guilty as training was subpar but I still rocked the course,,,,30-40 mpw, no runs over 14 miles, I was tentative going in, but dug deep and followed the directions on how to run the course, also used the website,,,,findmymarathon.com and it does a course and time calculation for all marathons, usa, and the pace needed per mile.....wonderful tool for any marathoner, any course, check out the pace band timing, it really dials in your courses. Did speed work once a week, half mile repeats from 5-10, 3-5 weekday runs, sat. long from 10-14, sun. shorter 5 mile cruise run, do spin class 2x a week, swim a mile once a week,,,,,so advice, run from 30-50 mpw,,,,taper the last week to 20mpw, follow the findmymarathon.com pace guide for the course, use carbo pro for energy to miles 18, two gu's for miles 18 and 22, drink every aid station, eat early dinner the night before, get to sleep early by 8pm the nite before, bring a ski hat, gloves, garbage bag or the thermal blanket, hat or sunglasses, throwaway tshirt to wear until the air warms up, around mile 8, chuck the gloves when hands sweat, run with a goal and adjust to it, smile and relax during the run, dig deep at the end,

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      above, number 5

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

toured the parks, shopped at the local stores, at good food at the local restaurants, drove the mountain and college areas,
from the san diego area, north county,,,,,

    2. Describe your race day.

Definitely wasn't well prepared for the cold at the start. I thought we'd be able to take the mylar blankets past the start line so I didn't bring a buff or a throwaway jacket. Really liked the gloves though!

    3. Did you PR?

      Marathon PR by 16 minutes

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful scenery especially in the first half of the marathon course. Disliked running on the shoulder from miles 23-25 - too much traffic. Found the grade to be more gentle than I expected which was really nice. Good course support. Really appreciated all the volunteers out there in the cold!

    5. Tell us about your training.

Currently training for a 100 miler so I didn't train specifically for this race. However it was a great long run for me.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

My only complaint is this. It took me about 25 minutes to find my car in the lot at hospitality drive, because I wasn't directed to park anywhere near where the buses picked us up, and in the dark I had no idea where I was in relation to the buses in order to find my way back there after the race. I was on one of the earlier buses to the marathon start, and when I did walk up to board the bus, there was plenty of parking closer to the buses. I'd suggest more volunteers in the parking area to ensure that people drive and park closer to where the buses load so that it's easier to find the car after the race.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live about 15 minutes away from the parking area so I went home after seeing some of my friends at the finish.

    2. Describe your race day.

I loved running through the clouds. Just a great coincidence with the weather :)

Loved the idea of an outdoor expo, too bad it was rainy and soggy.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! PR'd by 7 minutes and BQ'd by 16 seconds.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Course was great. Could you please change the pacers to 2 minutes under BQ? For example, 3:38 pacers, as opposed to 3:40 pacers. I ended up looking back to make sure they were not catching up to me.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I didn't do much long downhill training but I think it worked to my advantage since today I am walking like a duck. If I did that in training I would've had to sit out for one week to recover.

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Hot tub, hot tub and more hot tub. The downtown Redlands area was happening on Sunday at brunch.

Beautiful views, great motivational signs all along the course!

    3. Did you PR?

Trained for a 6 hour marathon and finished in 5:34! Felt great the entire run and never hit the dreaded wall!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The scenery was absolutely gorgeous! The downhill was gradual but fast!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I did a lot of downhill training. Ran up hill to get to the downhill and even did some elevation training in Big Bear during our training. Followed a 16 week training program and I knew I was ready come race day!

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I only live 25 miles from the bus loading area. But we did go out for a carb loading dinner the night before.
