Revel spoils their participants!!
I did not PR. My goal was to just finish & that I did!!
Most beautiful scenery. I’ve been waiting years for someone to put on this marathon from the local mountains downhill as I’m from Redlands. Thank you Revel for FINALLY making it happen!!
Two weeks training. However- I am a regular walker.
Fun things to do in the area are to visit the restaurants for dining & desserts in downtown Redlands on State Street.
I’m from Redlands!

Overall it was a great day! Liked the beer garden and all the other treats. Finish line ran smooth.
Hell yes I did! PR by almost 13 mins for the half...
Wish it was a little more big bear. Absolutely did not like having cars drive through the course and so close. Seemed a little dangerous.
I run year around. So I never stop "training". Speed work, speed work speed work!
Na
First Revel and had a great time. Will definitely do it again. Buses ran smooth and the volunteers were wonderful!
Six minute PR over my PR at Mt Charleston
The cloud below the start of the half
Super easy logistics-bus, bag pick up, all of it
I’ll never qualify for Boston but I PRed by six minutes
Super fast. Really hard to hold back. Didn’t notice any elevation Pretty for the first 8 miles -so green for so cal. Dramatic rock walls.
Did a few eleven mile moderate downhill runs. Should have added a few flat miles after the downhills in training.
Go for it! Enjoy the downhill!
Loved the throwaway gloves. Brought a throwaway sweatshirt and wore shorts. It wasn’t really cold.
Nothing-live in the area
Great bus drivers. Super easy to navigate the day. Wish they would do something to announce the start of the half. Add trash cans a little farther past each water stop for slow drinkers
It was an amazing experience. This was hit a whole set of new leg muscle groups I had not felt in previous 1/2 marathon races. It was well organized and extremely fun!! I will definitely do a revel race again!
But of course! How can you not!! I liked that although it was primarily downhill it still felt challenging. I beat my PR by 30 minutes. Even though I wasn’t looking to BQ I’m still happy I beat my PR by a good amount.
The course was beautifully scenic and challenging. Definitely worked my knees and hips!
My training was pretty thorough. I ran the Long Beach 1/2 the week prior. The elevation did not seem to be an issue for me.
You have to do a Revel run at least once in your lifetime. It’s worth the try!
Great time!
It was awesome!
Beautiful and fast!
Yes. Did only the half but ran it in 1:39 which put me at a 7:39 pace.
The downhill was subtle and made the course fast. Beautiful morning to run. It was really cold waiting to start so thank you for providing the gloves and Mylar blanket.
I run with the Boston Bound group with the LA LEGGERS. If I were to do it again I would incorporate more hill workouts.
Dress warm for the morning wait. Ditch the clothes as you warm up. Find somewhere in Redlands to stay. It was very easy to get around, I was well informed and the race was well organized.
I traveled from Los Angeles so going to dinner with other people running was all I did.
Thanks for a beautiful, well organized race. See you next year.
Painful! Ha!!! But really it was a great experience!
Yes!!!! My last half was 2 hours and 35 minutes!!!! I got 2nd in my division...how do I obtain my 2nd place medal?
The map is a little decieving...it shows it downhill the entire way....that was not the case...the last 4 miles were not downhill.
I'm in XC.
Dont overdress! It got hot quick running to me and I saw a lot of people taking off clothes. :) dont go out of the gate too fast.
None. We just stayed at country inn and suites. Since they are one of the hotels you guys recommend maybe you could ask them to offer breakfast ahead of time. Previous races have provided and earlier breakfast options for runners.
My favorite part of the Revel races is the Finish. I go into the beer garden and make new friends every time. Then later on I see people in the Revel shirts all over the place.
Yes. I was 10 or 15 minutes faster than I was the last couple times I did Canyon City. I can't compare my time with Rocky's though because I did the full there. But I think I beat my time in Whiskey Row Prescott Arizona from when I was about 10 years younger.
I don't think you could have picked better conditions. I love Forest Falls, I take my family hiking there all the time. This course is set at the foot of the tallest mountain in Southern California. Enough said.
I caught cold and I missed about a week and a half of training two weeks before the race. I generally do out and back style training, mostly trails, so there isn't much in addition to prepare for this type of race. I do lift weights also. one thing to consider about this race is that in spite of the fact that it's in the mountains, the elevation isn't very high.
Count on having a great time, and don't worry about the details too much, because the Revel people have it together pretty well.
This was the first Revel race that happened to be in my town, Redlands. So speaking as a local, if you were to go and Scout the Half Marathon course the day before, you should go park and see the waterfalls just a couple miles up the road from where the race starts. After the race, you are very close to the actual Hangar 24 Brewery. And the remote parking lot is right by Costco where the cheapest gas in the area is.
It was by far one of my favorite runs. It was so beautiful, and everyone was soo supportive. From the police, to all the volunteers, they all encouraged us.
It was my first half so I set a new time to beat.
It was soo beautiful!! Loved that it was downhill.
Train by doing some runs on hills. My body wasn’t used to running down so I had some knee pain.
Have fun with it. It is very cold so layer up in the morning.

The course is great and I would run it again BUT the busses from Big Bear left 30 min late, went too fast, and ran over a cone which scared most people in the bus. The traffic control back to BB was a nightmare which couldHave been avoided if the buses took the 330 back to Big Bear Instead of going back the 38 which made the trip from Redlands back to BB ...2 excruciating hours. I know this if the first year so just trying to give constructive criticism but please tell bus drivers to slow down, especially when it’s dark out and to be careful. Also, it would be great to make it clear that the package pick up is 1 hour away from BB because another runner who flew in from TX assumed staying in BB was the closet to the race. Also please have packet picket Fri and sat because those who spent the weekend in BB had to drive back down on Sat for pick up after only arriving Fri. If Fri was avalible more runners could pick it up on the way up to BB.
No. My PR is MT Lemmon and that course and planning was fantastic . 10 stars!
Good
Didn’t train as much for this race as I ran Boston this year and trying to take it easy.
Make sure when you book to stay Sunday night or ask for late checkout. Becud of the issues with the bus we didn’t get back to the HS Untill 11 and we took the very first bus to leave and only has 10 mins to check out . Another helpful thing would be to ask the hotels/cottages to allow for a 1 or 2 late checkout. There is no way you could run the full and get back in time for check out same day. We barely made it and ran the half and Got in the first bus
Spend the weekend in BB at a quaint cottage.
