    2. Describe your race day.

everything was great on race day. it’d be nice to have a building for packet pic up cause it was so “kinda unfun” with the rain and mess. that’s all the start of the fun of the race day :). most memorable was the amazing scenery!!!20

    3. Did you PR?

20 sec slower than my best but 1 min faster than the canyon city marathon :)

    4. How would you describe the course?

beautiful till the last 2 miles .... the clouds were breathtaking.... the grade was definately steep I only did the half so didn’t notice any elevation issues

    5. Tell us about your training.

it was pretty hot and miss. I don’t reslly enjoy marathons but at 63 need motivation to do something and yours are beautiful and have long finish times for the half so I can walk/jog

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

not really much. just spent time with my brother who lives here. I am from ohio

    2. Describe your race day.

Revel Big Bear boasts beautiful views of the mountains . Unfortunately I could not linger long enough to take it all in - had to get BQ and PR. They promised best opportunity for both and delivered.
This is the first time I ran a Marathon sub-4 hr. Even with periods of walking due to cramps. Every thing about the race is memorable for me .

    3. Did you PR?

Yes I set PR of 14 minutes. QUALIFIED FOR BOSTON!! Second time ; first was with Revel Mt Charleston.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Scenery- breathtaking!!
Grade: perfect for possible PR. No hill toward the end !!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I had trained for down hill for Revel Mt Charleston in April . Wasn’t able to train on high elevation but used hills in my town. I fueled better this time . The only thing I haven’t figured out just yet is why I get the cramps. Working on that !!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Want to PR of BQ ? Run a Revel race . Train for down hills as well as up hills .
Dress for the finish - cold at top but gets warmer as you descend. If you are over dressed you will be too hot at the lower elevation. Check weather before leaving home.
Book hotel early- they seem to fill up quickly.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      Travelled from NEW York City.
Didn’t get to do much as I flew in for the race and left day of the race . Regretfully so , as this was my first time to California. Drove the rim of the world- breathtaking. Just wish I could have done more .

Great help from volunteers. I am thankful to each volunteer.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes 3:39 ( my last marathon was 4 hours) no I did not qualify for Boston

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Beauuuuutiful!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I should stop running on tread mill and go to real places to train specially downhill

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train on downhill, don’t expect because it is downhill you will run faster. Keep cramp preventing medicines

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Perfect weather great race run really well. However I choked, hopefully I will do better next year.

    3. Did you PR?

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Fast and very scenic.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I didn't complete enough long runs to prepare.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Visit Ed with friends and drank coffee. I traveled from Rancho Cucamonga.

    2. Describe your race day.

Everybody is always so friendly at Revel races, the running community is awesome. I chatted with other runners about their goals and Boston. I truly had so much fun for all 26.2 miles!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes I PR’d by 14 minutes and qualified for Boston 2020.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The scenery was beautiful. The rolling hills through mile 9 were tough because we were at elevation but it was all gradual downhill after that. I loved that it wasn’t super steep downhill like at Big Cottonwood.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I run about 4 days a week and I do CrossFit 4 days a week. I think the strength training really helped for this downhill course, since there’s not many safe options to train downhill in SoCal.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Be conservative on the hills through mile 9, there’s some big climbs during those miles and they feel very tough since you’ll be at elevation. It is very cold at the start so bring warm clothes to toss before the race.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I travelled from a city that’s only 45minutes away so I did not do anything in the area. Big bear is beautiful though so I recommend renting a cabin up there!

    2. Describe your race day.

This was my first marathon ever and it was amazing! I can’t believe how organized Revel is. There were answers to every question I had, before I needed to ask. Getting to the event, and over the start line was my biggest concern as I didn’t know what to expect, but on the day everything was smooth, albeit freezing.

    3. Did you PR?

My PR was was to complete my first marathon. Done!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The first half was amazing. Great views and a varied environment. I loved starting in the dark to see the dawn highlight there was snow at the top of the mountains, running around all the tree lined bends with great vistas being revealed, then to drop into the clouds and hardly be able to see 10 metres ahead.
The second half was harder for me (im also getting tired) as it was longer straighter stretches, and once we got into the city they felt like it dragged on ( the last 4-5miles maybe.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I don’t follow any plan as such, but I run about 50+ km of trails a week in Glendora. I’m mainly doing it for fun, and races are very new to me.
I did work hard to take the marathon seriously. Dialing in my nutrition and clothing, and being a little wishful that I can go the distance (only run half that before today). The most tough thing for me was the pre-race anxiety (completely unwarranted it turns out) and I don’t know how you train for that. I had less than 3 hours sleep that night, not through lack of trying.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Don’t be afraid of the cold! I was tempted to layer up more, but I’m glad I didn’t. As soon as I was moving I forgot all about it.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Air bnb in big bear was great! I should have taken an extra day to settle in. Only travelled from Glendora, but it was worth heading out there.

    2. Describe your race day.

Everything was so well done from the shuttle, to the weather, to the quick Half start (they got us running right away), to the TRUE downhill course. The volunteers were a great help. The finish line so much fun. My favorite Half Marathon so far!!! I’ll be back for sure! So glad I ran the inaugural!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! My previous PR was 2:06, today I ran a 2:04 (with little training). I plan on crushing this course next year!
      No Boston but that’s ok.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Downhill and amazing! Loved it!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I need to train better next year. I usually train 3 days a week and on some downhills.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Dress warm for the start. Something you can throw away or bag check.

    2. Describe your race day.

Really a good experience. The course was beautiful. So much course support. And the volunteers were amazing.

    3. Did you PR?

No. But that’s not your fault. I had a lousy training season.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Gorgeous. But was a little uncomfortable with sometimes being on the shoulder with cars passing

    5. Tell us about your training.

I train with West Coast road runners. They have a good solid plan. I got the flu , then a sinus infection. In September. That really hurt me today. ;(

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Had dinner at a nice place in redlands called Romano’s. Not the chain, but a local place. Drive in from Escondido
