      Excellent

    3. Did you PR?

      Yes

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful. Mostly for the first 18-20 miles then more urban than I care for in a race but the mountain parts were incredible.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I did not do a lot of downhill specific training which hurt me near the end.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Train downhill.

    2. Describe your race day.

Overall, it was well organized and all the logistics worked out perfectly. Bus loading and unloading were fairly smooth without much waiting. The course is so beautiful and running down from above the clouds was simply amazing!

    3. Did you PR?

This was my second full marathon. Yes, I beat my first marathon by 28 minutes, and yes, I am Boston Qualified! My husband also ran the race and he PR'ed by 21 minutes, and is also Boston qualified!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The scenery for the first 20 miles is absolutely breathtaking! The first 9 miles have some uphill slopes, but not a big deal for me since I live in Southern California. The elevation is not an issue either since I often hike in the mountains above 6000 feet. I really enjoyed the downhill run and there is no issue at all on my knees. The weather was also perfect!

    5. Tell us about your training.

For the last 3 months, I ran 45-60 miles each week most of the time. I only did one long run of 20 miles three weeks before the race. I didn't train in particular for the downhill run since in Southern California, there is really no flat course, and you have to run up and down all the time. I summited the San Gogornio (over 13,000 feet) a week before the race, and I think it also helped me get prepared for the race.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Shoes! I already got my shoes half a size bigger, but my toes still hurt afterwards. Also, bring warm clothing to the start area since the temperatures might be in 30s. I brought an old blanket and just left it next to the start area right before the run started. Another thing I did was that I cut open a pair of crew socks and used them as arm warmers. I threw them away at mile 4.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We drove to the start line the day before and left for home right after the race.

    2. Describe your race day.

Very confident because we trained the route segments twice. Logistics worked very well and weather was fantastic.
      Great experience

    3. Did you PR?

Kinda. I was 3 minuts slower than my PR 3 years ago in SurfCity and 17 seconds slower than my last year Huntsville but I am really happy because I am aging and this kind of races keep me competitive. Yes I BQd in this race too!

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Fast but balanced. Love it

    5. Tell us about your training.

We did a regular marathon preparation including 2 times training this route from start to mile 15 and start to mile 21. Helped us to be prepared in altitude, road changes and stay focused on adjustments

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Prepare physically and be smart knowing your route

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      Toilet time and pics.
I am local from Fontana California

    2. Describe your race day.

My friends Kristin ( veteran of 120+ half marathons and multiple marathons ) and Bob ( 80 year old L.A. Marathon Legacy and veteran of 150+ marathons and Ultras, including 5 Boston Marathons ) carpooled with me to what we would later agree was one of the best events we have participated in. She was very excited and encouraged by her effort. He ran an Age Group course record of 2:11:11and I was 2/21 in 1:40:44 in the 65-69 A.G. I AM, however, questioning just how important going downstairs in my house truly is for the next few days!
The complete experience, including pre event correspondence with Anna, was professional, educated and worthy of sharing with our friends and teammates. We're looking forward to Mt. Charleston! I SHOULD be able to walk by then! Thank you, ALL, including the great volunteers!

    3. Did you PR?

I did not P.R. But I've been racing since 1967 and Father Time frowns upon P.R.s at this stage in life. It WAS, however, about 10 minutes faster than I expected! ( 1:40:44 ) Had I not cramped at mile 8, I would have easily gone sub 1:40. The goal was to see how well my 80 year old training buddy of 35+ years would handle a Revel "downhill" event. We will be trying to get hime to Boston one more time in Mt. Charleston as a result of his terrific 2:11 at Big Bear!

    4. How would you describe the course?

FAST, IF you don't break! Especially fast in the first three to four miles. Very scenic in the first half and friendly fans in the second half! Despite being a veteran of 51 years of racing, the course reminded me that sub 7 miles come at a price when you're 66! But, like childbirth, the pain will eventually go away and I'll likely be back for another go!

    5. Tell us about your training.

Do NOT underestimate the value of training on long downhill routes! I live in the hills and thought I would be well prepared. But the ease of running fast early in a race has it's price. The advice given to us prior to the event was spot on. Take it seriously. I would have been 3-4 minutes faster had I not cramped in the 8th mile. Patience is a virtue.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Read the previous comment AGAIN! Be prepared for any and all weather conditions. And, above all, HAVE FUN!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We're local So Cal runners and had about an hour drive to the busses. Pre race routine was, well, routine. Fortunately, the rain had just passed and the conditions were ideal. The trip home was pleasant and uneventful until I realized I lived in a two story house! What was said next need not be repeated here!

If you are looking for a high quality event and a very fast course, DO THIS ONE! But come prepared! You will not be disappointed.

    2. Describe your race day.

      Cold beginning, but perfect weather.

    3. Did you PR?

      YES! By 6 minutes.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Mostly downhill except for mile 8. Beautiful scenery. Traffic was scary at times. A red BMW stands out for screaming past us.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Pasadena Pacers training - included 2 downhill trainings. Worked fabulous.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Don't wear headphones! I saw one runner grab one who was wearing headphones and ignoring us yelling to move over as buses approached from behind.

      Wear 2 mylar blankets.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

gather as a team with pasadena pacers.

    2. Describe your race day.

Was my first half marathon at the age of 60. I really appreciated the organized transport and bag check-ins. Everyone there was very welcoming and helpful. Great energy from your volunteers and workers. Loved the goodies after the race, especially the donuts and pizza. I will sign up for another Revel run race soon!

    3. Did you PR?

My first time doing a half marathon. There was definitely no worries that I had the time to finish one.

    4. How would you describe the course?

I liked the course alot. Beautiful and breathtaking.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I've trained through Fleet Feet Rancho Cucamonga. They have a beginning runners class called No Boundaries which is one of the best classes out there for couch to 5k and beyond goals.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Don't let the weather intimadate you. Many layers helped me but the space blanket was appreciated.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We had a great group from our running club: some old and some new. Making a team was great.
