    2. Describe your race day.

Shuttle bus parking was well organized. Easy to get dropped off/park and load the bus in less than 15 minutes. Excellent set up at the half marathon start. LOVED all the port-o-lets set up and the bright lights. I didn't check a bag, but nearly everyone I came across with an orange bag kept asking when the truck would arrive, then there was a last minute rush to get the bags loaded. Thanks for the emergency blankets. Gloves were so nice to have for the first 3 miles. After that though, I felt bad because runners were jettisoning their gloves on the side of the highway far away from the nearest aid station/trash can. So much litter. Excellent views, FAST course. Since I'm in LA, I'll miss the easy access to the Azusa location, but this isn't too bad as a day trip/overnight. Would do it again.

    3. Did you PR?

No PR, but improved my rolling average by about 12 minutes. Thanks!!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Virtually downhill the whole way (I think there's a point around mile 8 where it climbed slightly, but that was no big deal). Very scenic nearly all the way down into the town. Downhill does make things more challenging on the quads, but it's a fair price to pay for a fast time.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I would train running down paved roads a little more.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train on downhill grades. Get shoes with more room in the toe box (I had blisters ON MY TOES, yikes!). Dress in layers near the top, or bring an emergency blanket. Enjoy the scenery on the way down because it's all a blur.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Hangar 24 Craft Brewing after the expo for some tasty brews and loaded fries.

    2. Describe your race day.

I did not know what to expect and was really nervous about this downhill course. But the marathon start line area was super organized and the announcements were very helpful in getting lined up and ready to go. I had GI issues unfortunately and there were enough Porto potties to help me get through the race!

    3. Did you PR?

I did set a new PR for the marathon but due to GI and knee issues I didn’t do as well as I might have otherwise. I’d like to come back again and see if I can do better.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The top half of the full marathon is beautiful. I liked the rolling hills. The last half is all down hill and was super fun. Not as scenic but fun.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I need to do more quad work next time. It would be good to put some suggestions out there for runners.

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We traveled from San Francisco and stayed in Redding. We spent Saturday at the expo which was great even despite the rain. Then we went to a meet up at Hanger 24 brewery. On race day we stayed in the dining line festival and enjoyed the food and beer. Then we spent the rest of the day in Redding at some local restaurants, bars and shops in the downtown area before flying home.

    2. Describe your race day.

This was hillier than I expected, but I was happy to get the hard part over with at the beginning rather than the end. The views from miles 1-20 or so were incredible!!! Such a beautiful race!

    3. Did you PR?

No, but I only missed it by 2 minutes! I actually though I would do a sub 4, but had no idea I would get a sub 3:45! No BQ either, but I wasn’t planning on that either!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Majestic, magical, ethereal, breathtaking, beautiful, amazing, hilly, fast after 9 miles.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I didn’t train 100% for this race. It was more like 80%. That considered, I am very proud of my achievement! My longest training run was only 15 miles! But I do train almost all year and always have maintenance miles when not training...I run year round!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Do hill training for both up and down. Know that the hills will end so hang in there. Pace yourself well or you will burn out the first quarter to half. Take the pictures!!!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I volunteered for the race registration booth! We drove in from Las Vegas!!

    2. Describe your race day.

The course was beautiful and the fog that was in the valley made for quite the photo opportunity.
I loved the fact at the later aid stations, that there were volunteers with gloves on who would apply the deep blue for you. All i had to do was turn around and point, AWESOME.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes I did by 30 minutes from my last full marathon. I CRUSHED my Boston Qualifying time by 20 minutes. While I slowed down considerably the last 2 I had enough in the tank to BQ....

    4. How would you describe the course?

I loved everything about the course, the elevation was not an issue and I will be 59 this year. The advice that was given at the expo, conservative the first 9, then start to get going and then power thru that last half marathon was spot on. The grade was great (assuming you mean the downhill grade), my only issue was the "bank"/"enbankment" or whatever it's called, I have never had ankle issues and it was tough to run on that. Scenery as mentioned above was stunning.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Training Program - "Marlie's 9 Mile Marathon"- you only train up to 9 miles to run 26. It is spot on.....

Fuel Choice - "Endurance Tap" - Maple Syrup, Ginger (to ease the stomach) and Salt - the best fuel I have ever found.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

I purchased an extra half size up in my running shoe for the downhill and had zero issues.
I stayed at the Comfort Suites one of the host hotels and it was close to everything. The customer service was amazing as well as housekeeping. Super clean.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I traveled from San Diego, did some shopping and drove around and explored the area. Next time I might stay in Big Bear and play around up there.

    2. Describe your race day.

This was my first time running a Revel Race and this was my 4th marathon. The view is amazing, water and aids were at the perfect distance, and I'm so thankful for the Leg Cramps tablets they came in handy. It was a faster pace race but not easy. I loved it and can't wait to do it again and I'm really considering traveling to do it again, especially because it's a Boston Qualifying race.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes!! new PR 3:45:00:07 my previous time was 4:11:15 from the San Francisco Marathon this past July. I'm really exited about this and I feel ready to pursue Boston!!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful!!! Amazing views that get you in a zone. Love the pizza at the end of the race..

    5. Tell us about your training.

I trained the same as I had for my previous marathons. I run 3 times a week outdoors I strength trained 2 times a week followed by treadmill running at -3. I hydrated the week before and started to carbs a couple of days before race day.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

I would say it's a fast pace race Not an easy race.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I'm from the area so nothing special before, but Celebrated the completion of the race and most important the NEW PR my husband and kids

    2. Describe your race day.

From beginning to end it was a great race. The gifts to help you at the beginning of the race due to cold were nice extra touches.

    3. Did you PR?

I sure did! I beat my PR by 32 minutes! I'm not that fast of a runner so to see that was just amazing.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Scenery was stunning. I wanted to stop so many times and just marvel and takes pics, then had to remember I'm being timed on this race. The elevation worried me as I had done Fontana Days and that one messed me up. This run however was not bad at all. I'm truly looking forward to next years.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I train with the Lopers and we do hills regularly, however I tried training a bit more down hills to see what would work without being hard on knees and ankles.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

If you want to best your time or run a full this is the one to do it at. It's an amazing experience and why not finish at a great time to feel even more accomplished!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I don't know about others, but I love chocolate milk after a race (i'm not a big milk fan) but that it was in cups was awesome! Rather than carry that stuff around after a race - you want to rest up, stretch and relax. This was the best post race I've seen. It's a small area but it allows you to stretch and really do your post race rituals. There wasn't a rush to get you out - the staff made you feel accomplished and were very helpful. You were then able to proceed for pizza, donuts, and your beer if you wanted. Personally i'm good with the milk and powerade after a race, but it was great all around. Definitely recommending this race, and will sign up again!

    2. Describe your race day.

Everything was very clear and organized for the bus to the starting line. We got to the starting line and had about 30 minutes until the race start. The race started with very little announcement, we all just started to run.
The run was great, I kept close to one of the pacing groups for the first 6 or so miles. Had a really fun time running down the canyon road. The aid stations were very helpful and well organized.
Once we got to mile 7 or 8, things flattened out and it was more work getting through those miles.
After I finished, I grabbed my card with my times and ate a donut while waiting for my friend to cross the finish line. It was fun seeing all the runners coming in.
I love the Revel races because they are always so well organized, and they offer so much to the runner. I have run a variety of races before, but I ALWAYS run the Revel races in SoCal. I love that we get a print out with our times/rankings, the medals are always really big and gorgeously designed, and I love the tech-shirts we get. Plus, getting free photos during the race is AMAZING. I never buy race photos, so I love getting some photos from this course, as they're usually my only race photos all year. I like Revel because you get so much value for your money, and it's always a really great experience. This is the best race series I've participated in, and plan to again next year.

    3. Did you PR?

I PR'd on this race. My previous fastest time was last year at Revel Canyon City. This year, I finished about 8 minutes faster, most of the time was gained during the first six miles.

    4. How would you describe the course?

I loved the start of the course. The first six miles were great and I really enjoyed the downhill canyon run. The next 4 or so miles were okay, but more flat than I had hoped. I really did not like the last 3 miles of the course. I enjoyed the course at Canyon City a lot more. I felt like there were lots of spectators for the final couple miles, and the scenery was so much nicer. I know the race moved because people didn't love the uphill during Canyon City, but I think that course is so much prettier and more fun.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I train for triathlons primarily, so most of my focus is on running, swimming and biking. I have a pretty regular regime I follow, and when that season is done, I switch to mainly running. I am not the most intense of runners, so I just try to run 4 miles a few times a week, along with my other cross training.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

My biggest advice is don't stress too much and enjoy the course. Wear warm layers before the race, but once you start running, you warm up fast, so leave the layers with your race bag.
Make sure the toe box of your shoe is wide/big enough, because running downhill can really mess up your toenails (speaking from experience).
Get a hotel with a hot tub because nothing feels better than a hot soak after the race.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We drove from Los Angeles. After going to the Expo around 1pm, we drove up to Big Bear and spent a few hours walking around there. Then we went back to Redlands and got dinner at Alfredo's.
