  1. Overall Rating

    5/5 Stars

  2. Describe your race day.

I had a great race! I had ran Revel Rockies and Cottonwood, and the downhill was hard on my knees. I ran the half at Mt. Hood, because of lack of training with the higher temperatures in my area. The half was great, as the shade and cool weather were there for most of my race, and my time was one of my lowest half-marathons. My legs were not more than normally sore.

  3. Did you PR?

It was not a PR for me, but as stated above, my running condition was off. I am sure of a PR if I had been in shape for the race!

  4. How would you describe the course?

Cool and fast. The course was mostly downhill, with few uphill's, shaded for all but about 2 miles near the end, and not so steep that you had to hold back. Loved it!

  5. Tell us about your training.

I trained on the road most of the time, and in the southern Indiana, long hills are rare, so I would go to the treadmill and run up to 7 miles per week downhill at a -3 degree grade.

  6. What advice would you give future runners?

Get as much downhill training as you can, to get your knees used to the beating the downhills give.

  7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

The group I traveled with went for some local beer, and went on a couple of driving tours to see waterfalls, and Mt. St. Helens.

Maybe in the future I will consider the Full Marathon, to add to my marathon states goal.

Coming from Southern Indiana where the humidity was high, the cool dry weather for the summertime race was more than welcome!
