Describe your race day.
Great day. Great downhill.
-
Did you PR?
Yes, but did not qualify for Boston.
-
How would you describe the course?
Great scenery the first 6 miles. After that, the highway is not very interesting.
-
Tell us about your training.
Lots of downhill technique practice, which made a huge difference. Don't neglect some uphill training, as the final 8 miles or so feel like a climb.
-
What advice would you give future runners?
Consider not carrying hydration, as the aid stations are frequent and well supplied. Go as light as possible! I carried a hand held water bottle and a few gummies, but by mile 13 was wishing I didn't have it. If one is sensitive to the heat, try to get into an earlier wave. I went in the last wave and by mile 20, it was getting pretty warm and runners were pretty exposed on the highway with little to no shade.

What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?
I traveled from Florence, Oregon with some of my teammates. We camped near the start and hung out at the campsite and also tried some good food at Wraptitude.
