    2. Describe your race day.

I felt very safe while running since there were support staff posted along the race course. Thank you for that.

    3. How would you describe the course?

The race course was beautiful. The roads were narrow country ones lined with dense forests that were lush and cooling.

    4. Tell us about your training.

I used to be a bile racer, then did Triathlons so my training focuses o. cycling along with the running. I ride 3,000 miles a year and run 950 miles and I also swim 2-3X a week.

    5. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live in this great area!

    2. Describe your race day.

Weather was perfect. Lots of fun. My first half marathon and I ran with my husband and daughter. That was the best part.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes...it was my first half marathon.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Good in the beginning but tough at the end when I was already really spent. It definitely challenged me with the uphill at miles 10-12 and even a little on mile 13.

    5. Tell us about your training.

We don't have hills where we live so we had to drive a bit to find a canyon to run down. I felt ready and ran well.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Definitely train on the hills. Up hill and down hill.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We came from California and just enjoyed the scenery and cool weather.

    2. Describe your race day.

Up at 1:30 am to drive from Skamania Lodge. My wife was originally suppose to run but was injured. So I went alone. I’ve never run without her. Was a uniquely tranquil experience. I never spoke once during the entire event.

    3. Did you PR?

No. It was very close to a PR but I didn’t train to the extent I wanted, so I felt very good about my results.

    4. How would you describe the course?

By mile 7 I started thinking I might not even break a sweat. The sights and sounds of the river and Mt Hood in the distance made me forget I was even running. The downward sloping course helped as well.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I was only up to 6 miles for my long run in my training. I did throw a 9 miler in the weekend before. Still I was just short of a PR. Motivation to actually train hard for next year.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Don’t eat a big steak dinner the night before.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

After the race we went to Naked Falls and jumped off the cliffs. Was an amazing afternoon. Then went to the Nike Center in Beaverton and ran the Bowerman 5k. Got to meet Shalane Flanagan.

    2. Describe your race day.

I made a new friend at the starting line who was in my age group and also trying to BQ. We started and ran the first few miles together, then she pulled in front of me. I passed her around mile16, then she caught back up to me at mile 25. We stayed with each other till the end, both of us qualifying for Boston with almost 5minutes to spare!

    3. Did you PR?

I set a 22min PR and qualified for Boston!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was beautiful! I even took out my phone and took a picture while running - probably not the safest, but totally worth it. The course description was spot on as far as what to be prepared for. The first half was fast, scary fast. The back half - not so much. Also, It got hot, fast.

Only complaint I have about the course is that it wasn't closed to traffic. I understand it's hard to shut down a highway. However, there were times I felt like I was going to be run over by an 18-wheeler. Twice I had to stop for a car to cross an intersection.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I trained for a solid 16 weeks, with three 20miler runs. With New Orleans being predominantly flat, I used bridges for "hill" training. If I were going to compete in another Revel Run, I would run more on tired legs (i.e. two-a-days, long run Saturday/bridge repeats Sunday). Like in every marathon, I struggled towards the end. I think it would have helped if I would have completed a 22 - 24 miler in my training cycle.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Be prepared for the back half. The front half is fast - the fastest you've ever ran in your LIFE. The back half is tough, especially after all the downhill running. Get those long runs in; train on tired legs; all of it will help you be better prepared for miles 18 - 26.2.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I traveled from New Orleans, and unfortunately, I didn't have too much time to visit the area as I left right after the race. I was able to grab a bite to eat at "Mothers" downtown on Friday. The food and atmosphere were fantastic! I actually placed a to-go order on my way out the door back to the hotel, so I'd have something easy to eat before going to bed early for race day.

    2. Describe your race day.

I spent 5 hours running on busy Highway 26. Unsafe, loud and you need an aid station around mile 22-23.

    3. Did you PR?

      No, I’m injured.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Bad. I won’t return nor recommend. I’ve run Revel Rockies, Cottonwood and Charleston. I’m signed up for Big Bear and Mt Lemmon. Mt Hood is not to Revel standards.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Minimal due to injury. Just started running again July 1.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Skip Mt Hood. Charleston is faster and safer.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      Visited friends.

    2. Describe your race day.

Nobody from the half marathon broke the finish line tape for me. That was nice this time.

    3. Did you PR?

No. I PR-ed by negative 4:52 which is also how close I was to it. Yes, I qualified, not that I'll run Boston.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The scenery had trees. There was a big volcano that we never really saw since we ran away from it the whole way. The grade was really steep early, but then basically non existent near the end. Also trees.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I run a lot, and running is stupid.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

There's just no good way to run this course fast. You will definitely end up with blisters, black toenails, and be incredibly sore for days. Enjoy that

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I slept. No time to be a tourist when you need to get on a bus at 3AM.

    2. Describe your race day.

I had a great race! I had ran Revel Rockies and Cottonwood, and the downhill was hard on my knees. I ran the half at Mt. Hood, because of lack of training with the higher temperatures in my area. The half was great, as the shade and cool weather were there for most of my race, and my time was one of my lowest half-marathons. My legs were not more than normally sore.

    3. Did you PR?

It was not a PR for me, but as stated above, my running condition was off. I am sure of a PR if I had been in shape for the race!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Cool and fast. The course was mostly downhill, with few uphill's, shaded for all but about 2 miles near the end, and not so steep that you had to hold back. Loved it!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I trained on the road most of the time, and in the southern Indiana, long hills are rare, so I would go to the treadmill and run up to 7 miles per week downhill at a -3 degree grade.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Get as much downhill training as you can, to get your knees used to the beating the downhills give.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

The group I traveled with went for some local beer, and went on a couple of driving tours to see waterfalls, and Mt. St. Helens.

Coming from Southern Indiana where the humidity was high, the cool dry weather for the summertime race was more than welcome!
