    2. Describe your race day.

I ran the 1/2 and the course was perfect! Woke up at 2am and we left the hotel (DoubleTree) around 2:30-3am. Tried sleeping on bus (tip: bring neck pillow). Arrived at 4:30ish am.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes, I did PR by 20 min.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Beautiful!

    5. What advice would you give future runners?

For the Mt Hood marathon, I would advice them to bring a small bottle of sunblock, a hat, and some sunglasses. I had forgotten my hat, but REVEL surprised us with one. Thanks!
Travel tip: Don't rent car! the Max Light Rail was in front of our hotel.

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Ate! We did a ton of walking, took public transit to downtown, Saturday Market, Brew Fest, and hung out with some old friends who now live in Oregon. It was a very eventful weekend.

    2. Describe your race day.

Great day. Great experience great ppl. I am hooked

    3. Did you PR?

      I have room to grow.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Was expecting more down hill. But I liked how it was covered in the half side. Everyone around was positive and friendly.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I followed Hal Higdon training. I really liked it. I should have done more of the long runs.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train with a friend. Or spouse. It’s good time together. I used brooks shoes. We camped near by with our family. I was super nervous. Just a lot going on for me. Weather was great.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We went to Mt hood ski bowl. Family fun. Did timberline lodge after race.

      We traveled from central Washington

    2. Describe your race day.

      Shuttle left right on time.
Event coordinator was friendly, to the point, and well organized.
      Awesome run with great volunteers.
Had a great time running with my friend, and really enjoyed the wooded area where we finished. Also, the views from the starting line were spectacular!!!

    3. Did you PR?

      Yup, by about 15 minutes.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was a pleasant down-hill for most of the way, and the few flats and hills were actually a nice break on my legs. Very pretty course, nice and shaded in most places.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Didn't train heavily for this race, as I've been spending most of my time cycling. I would definitely recommend plenty of strength training for your quads/calfs to handle the constant downhill.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Just to relax in the early going of the race and save your strength for the last 6 miles, when you'll need some spare energy to maintain pace once the course flattens a bit.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Eat!!! We enjoyed the beerfest in Portland aftwerwards, which was a lot of fun.

    3. How would you describe the course?

I ran the half marathon. The scenery was beautiful. It was not nearly as much of a downhill course as I've come to expect from Revel.

The race was good, the starting line went smoothly, wasn't too cold at the beginning or hot at the end, I just expected more downhill.

    2. Describe your race day.

I loved running down Mt. Hood. It was beautiful and it was definitely a race that I would recommend!

    3. Did you PR?

No, I did not PR but I did run my best time in over a year even though I was not really in shape for that kind of time!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The first half was beautiful and very fast. The second half was challenging and did seem dangerous at times. I would recommend some sort of screening process for the start corrals. I placed myself appropriately but it was quite clear that many others did not. It didn't make it very safe to have to try to pass two slower runners that were side by side when they probably should have started further back with runners of similar speeds.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I run marathons all the time. I didn't do anything very different for this race.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Like I said before, I would place yourself appropriately in your start corral. It makes the most sense and it's for safety. I also would recommend taking the extra shuttle from downtown Portland. I saved money on a rental car and got to enjoy staying downtown.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

There are so many microbreweries to choose from that I feel that is a must for anyone who likes beer! I also went to a Timbers game - that was fun! And there are so many different places to hike and explore that everyone should get out and see some of the beautiful area during their stay!

    2. Describe your race day.

The beauty of the course is almost a distraction! Pre-race at the start was low key, which I appreciated as I was determined to PR that day. It was an early start but worth it to finish strong and have the rest of the day to enjoy Oregon's mountain lakes.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! My goal was to get under 2 hours and I did. I finished 4 minutes faster than my previous PR. I even stopped to use the port-a-potty!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was gorgeous. Tall trees, lush with vegetation. At mile 7, 10, and 12? there were some decent inclines that were rewarded with downhills immediately after. I had no issue with the elevation.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I did not train any differently for this race than I do for others. I maintain a solid mileage base throughout the year with weekday miles ranging from 3-6 and weekend miles ranging from 5-12.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

If coming with spectators, the early start and shuttling to the finish line is something to consider logistically.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

My family (husband and 4 kids) drove from Duluth to Minneapolis to catch a late flight out on Wednesday night. We stayed with family in Portland (Foster/Powell neighborhood). On Thursday we went to Pacific City and hung out on the coast for the day. We even climbed the massive sand dune. Friday we took the kids to OMSI during the day. This is a must-do in Portland with kids. Then we relaxed in the evening with a movie. After the race on Saturday, we went out to Timothy Lake and swam. That night we dined at a local food truck pod. Sunday we ate lunch at a different food truck pod and went swimming at the Sellwood pool before taking the red-eye flight back to MSP.

    2. Describe your race day.

I enjoyed everything about my Revel Mt Hood marathon experience; great course, volunteers, weather, and overall race management!

    3. Did you PR?

I PR'd but didn't have a time goal coming into the race! I just wanted to run a marathon in a state that I have completed. I also Boston qualified

    4. How would you describe the course?

Course was challenging but manageable! You have to take what it gives you and don't fight it too much. Scenery was great. I wish I would have stopped to take photos!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I signed up 3 weeks before race so didn't have a lot of time to train for downhill race. I did have a 1.5 mile hill of 3-4%grade near home and completed fast downhill repeats with recovery going up.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train for fast downhill with proper downhill form; or a lot of fast repeats to get feet moving quickly. Complete a couple of Bulgarian split squat sessions per week.

    2. Describe your race day.

Early start avoided the heat. I ran the entire race with a friend from CA.

    3. Did you PR?

My PR was almost 30 years ago

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful course, shaded almost the whole way, gentle downhill with one hill near the end (1/2 marathon)

    5. Tell us about your training.

I only had a week of training after a three week vacation, but this course was perfect with the almost constant gentle downhill.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Know that there is a small uphill in the last two miles

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live local (West Linn), so I went out to diner with my family
