    2. Describe your race day.

The course is great and I would run it again BUT the busses from Big Bear left 30 min late, went too fast, and ran over a cone which scared most people in the bus. The traffic control back to BB was a nightmare which could
Have been avoided if the buses took the 330 back to Big Bear Instead of going back the 38 which made the trip from Redlands back to BB ...2 excruciating hours. I know this if the first year so just trying to give constructive criticism but please tell bus drivers to slow down, especially when it’s dark out and to be careful. Also, it would be great to make it clear that the package pick up is 1 hour away from BB because another runner who flew in from TX assumed staying in BB was the closet to the race. Also please have packet picket Fri and sat because those who spent the weekend in BB had to drive back down on Sat for pick up after only arriving Fri. If Fri was avalible more runners could pick it up on the way up to BB.

    3. Did you PR?

No. My PR is MT Lemmon and that course and planning was fantastic . 10 stars!

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Good

    5. Tell us about your training.

Didn’t train as much for this race as I ran Boston this year and trying to take it easy.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Make sure when you book to stay Sunday night or ask for late checkout. Becud of the issues with the bus we didn’t get back to the HS Untill 11 and we took the very first bus to leave and only has 10 mins to check out . Another helpful thing would be to ask the hotels/cottages to allow for a 1 or 2 late checkout. There is no way you could run the full and get back in time for check out same day. We barely made it and ran the half and Got in the first bus

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Spend the weekend in BB at a quaint cottage.

    2. Describe your race day.

Perfect Race from registry, logistics and running ! I specifically like the races text alerts that I could link to friends and family. The whole event was well coordinated and for half of what I paid for the San Francisco marathon in July there was twice as much race loot for revel race runners!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes . Qualified for Boston .

    4. How would you describe the course?

Very fast with the decline which is extremely taxing on quads, hips and knees so the right training and footwear was key for a race like this. Beautiful scenic run!

    5. Tell us about your training.

Run everyday ! Try and get better but for the most part just do it for me. It’s my time.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Good shoes. For competitive runners I went with comfort over some of my lighter faster shoes. Race is a chilly start at high elevation so be prepared if you need to have throwaway layers.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Traveled from Fresno day prior just enough time to rest and drive back .

I have some questions. I'd want to run around 3:00-3:10, I know you are faster than me but still could advice me good. Questions: 1. Do you think vaporfly 4% could work well with this course? I read it's all paved, and the 4% has a lot of plush. Originally I planned & trained with Hoka carbon rocket but I changed my mind after the Tahoe trifecta. 2. Reviews are inconsistent about gels. Should I supply mine or I can grab from aid stations? I definitely won't bring my own liquid though. 3. Pre race layers are also inconclusive. If organizers provide gloves and mylar blanket it should be enough. Do they provide? Besides that do you think a racing top and shorts enough (there will be rolling hills the first 8-9 miles). 4. Are the rolling hills significant in your opinion? 5. Some reviews say to take advantage of embankment, I'd imagine that like with a single trail run like a mountain bike, but this is paved course. How is the pavement situation? Thanks.

    2. Describe your race day.

I thought the Expo, starting line, race, and "after party" very well organized and amazing! My race day was stress free! I was able to easily find the parking lot and get to the shuttle. Had plenty of time to warm up before the race. During the race, the volunteers were amazing! Everything was great!

    3. Did you PR?

I PR for the year but was short about 1 minute overall. I was coming back from an injury so this was awesome! I was very pleased!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was great! Well marked, well supported, fast!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I'm training for my first Full Marathon in 3 weeks, so I was coming into this as more of a training run. I enjoyed it very much!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Downhill running is far different than I've ever done. So I would want to encourage future runners to stretch stretch stretch! Also, I would suggest some extra strength training and maybe wear capris or shorts even though it was cold at first so you can easily apply Deep Blue.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Walked around Big Bear and some of the other towns with family.

    2. Describe your race day.

Favorite memory - my friend sneaking up on me & pushing me at the end!
Least favorite memory - the music being played before the half.

    3. Did you PR?

No. :( Missed by 45 SECONDS!!

    4. How would you describe the course?

AMAZING!! By far my favorite Revel course!! Scenery was beautiful, fog was awesome, course itself is the BEST EVER!!!

    5. Tell us about your training.

Ummmmm ... my training was super spuratic from Mt Hood. If my training would have been on point, I would have PR’d!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

The road slants at some parts

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Nothing before because it was raining. After - nothing either cuz I had to quickly get back to the hotel to check out cuz there was no late check out. Annoying.
      Came from Vegas Baby!!

    5. Tell us about your training.

Should have done more downhill training runs.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Know the first 9mi are rolling hills, but not bad at all.

    2. Describe your race day.

All of my friends and I PR’d the half marathon.

    3. Did you PR?

I crushed my half marathon PR by 23 minutes!!!

    4. How would you describe the course?

LOVED the consistent decline of this course compared to Azusa Canyon for the half marathon. The scenery was not as nice, but I’d take this course over Azusa any day.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Along with my “regular” training runs, I did 2 13 mile downhill training at Azusa Canyon (the first 13 miles of the full for that choruses - starting at Crystal Lake).

Make sure you do some downhill training runs! Downhill sounds easy, but it is hard on your body because you use different muscles from running on flat areas.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Stay in Loma Linda. It was close to the bus shuttle (which was very organized and easy) and there are lots of food options.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Only travelled in from LA. Got together with friends for a pre-race meal.

    2. Describe your race day.

Beautiful scenery, the mountains were breathtaking. I also loved all the sweet supporters giving water and snacks, and of course the beautiful smiles! Very encouraging!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes, beat my record by 10 minutes.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Lovely! Downhill is amazing it was not steep just perfect and beautiful!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I ran 4-5 times a week (4 miles) and did long runs on Saturday at least 8 miles.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Pace yourself, running with people is really exciting and makes you want to try and keep up. Just go your pace and enjoy the beautiful course.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Nothing this time, but I love everything around Big Bear.

    2. Describe your race day.

Amazing! Loved running through the fog. Such a beautiful course!

    3. Did you PR?

Did not PR but that was not the goal. I "revel" in the run itself so for me it was a run for fun.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The start of the full had some hills but the overall grade of the course was perfect. Seeing the view of the valley and running into the fog is an experience that I won't forget (in a good way).

    5. Tell us about your training.

      Training? What's that?

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

If you are going for a time goal, listen to the coaching sessions on Facebook and run smart. If you are not going for a time goal, make sure to look up and enjoy the scenery.

A special shout out to Jared and Clark. Revel know how to treat their runners well. It is not only a company that puts on great runs but a shining example of what customer service should be.

    3. Did you PR?

      No

    4. How would you describe the course?

Excellent! Love how it was downhill and no inclines!
