It is fun to run Revel events. I have signed up Mt. Hood for next year at the expo.

    2. Describe your race day.

My first marathon experience was the best!! Revel puts on a great invite! I loved the signs along the trail, kept my mind occupied! I never felt stressed about bathrooms, water stations, medical stations, it was well organized!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! My first marathon at 4:42! Boom! No I didn’t BQ.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Scenery was breathing taking! Didn’t notice an elevation change.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I ran this course 4 times before (up to 20 miles) !

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Dress warm for the start!

    2. Describe your race day.

The scenery was OUT OF THIS WORLD GORGEOUS, BEAUTIFUL, INSPIRING, INVIGORATING!!! This was my first time jogging 12 miles only doing 1 second stops at water stations to swallow a little water and continue. The last 1.1 miles, I had to walk, couldn't jog anymore. Truly a BEAUTIFUL run.

    3. Did you PR?

I sure as hell PRd!!! And proud of it!!! Not sure how close, but I know I PRd!!! Did the half, so no qualify for the BM.

    4. How would you describe the course?

I can't begin to explain how BEAUTIFUL, INSPIRING, INVIGORATING this course was for me. I normally jog and walk on half marathons. To jog for 12 miles and then walks the last 1.1 miles only to stop for seconds at water stations every 2 miles, tells you how I LOVED the scenery, the grade and the elevation. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT ALL!!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I train with a group of wonderful ladies and 2 men. They definitely got me ready for this run. Training advice - just keep working at it every week.

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We stayed in the area overnight on Saturday. Pasta loaded at Old Spaghetti Factory Saturday night and then put those calories back in at an authentic Chinese restaurant in Alhambra on Sunday after the race. Then we all went back to our homes in the San Fernando Valley and Santa Monica areas.

    2. Describe your race day.

Race day weather was perfect. I'm glad the rain stopped the day before, and the Santa Ana winds didn't come blowing through till the day after. Our gang stayed in Redlands so getting to shuttles @ 4AM wasn't too difficult.

    3. Did you PR?

No PR... but BQ'ed again. Thanks to the downhills! Big toenail is black and blue though...

    4. How would you describe the course?

Course was beautiful from miles 0-22.... : ). I thought the last few miles would also have significant downhills, but I was wrong... the last 2 miles were quite a struggle, but good thing I banked some time already. Was kind of worried about the vehicle traffic as I saw some negative comments on Facebook by residents along the course.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I trained mostly on downhills and flats. Got my mileage up to 40 per week for 2-3 weeks, which probably helped a lot with endurance. Long run training pace was about 1:30 minutes slower than actual race pace, but did a few tempo runs too.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Just run easy on the first 22... it's easy to roll down that mountain. Don't push yourself till the last 4.2, as that's when you'll need it.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Eat, eat, eat. Drink. drink. : )

    2. Describe your race day.

I loved the craziness of waiting for the half to start, on the side of the road on the mountains, freezing and dark. Starting the run and just being amazed at the sights.

    3. Did you PR?

I did PR but it was my first half ever.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was gorgeous. We were able to run and watch the fog lift through and over the mountains. The colours were beautiful. The curvy parts were challenging to run on, in terms of finding comfort and it was an entirely different way of running for me. The elevation did not seem to bother me, but I did notice I felt I was breathing easy once I was on level.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I had only run 6 miles prior to this. I was doing it on my own, no training plan. Busy mom. My goal was to increase my overall mileage each week and that did not always happen but I was running every other day consistently. I had only worked up to 10 miles before the race (one time) and I was nervous. Advice: follow your body, listen to its cues. Push yourself when you can and take it easy when you need to.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Stay close to the parking! Dress warm while waiting.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Before the race went up to big bear lake, walked around, enjoyed the views. Beautiful. Just driving through the mountains on its own was an experience.

    2. Describe your race day.

This was a great race. I would say out of the 8 marathons I did this was the best. I love the aid stations with the fruit, deep cold cream, donuts, coke! Wow!

    3. Did you PR?

No but I did the same time as normal.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Great. It was my first doing a download which made me nervous but it was not so steep as I imagine.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I am a constant runner so I was happy.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      NA

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I was in Vegas before coming here.

    2. Describe your race day.

It started out beautiful. Enjoyed the mountain views. The after party was great. Beer selection was wonderful.

    3. Did you PR?

Shaved 50 minutes off my time.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The first part was beautiful and lots of support. The second half was awful. Hardly any room to run. Traffic crowded the course. Not much support.

    2. Describe your race day.

      Most memorable things:
      - Our bus driver mistakenly taking up to the 1/2 start instead of the fulls start. (which was okay because we didn't have to stand out in the cold for too long)
-the GORGEOUS scenery! I was so conflicted. On one hand, I wanted to stop and take pictures and on the other hand I wanted a fast time. I settled for 1 picture and an okay time.
-The friends I made on the course. :)

    3. Did you PR?

Yes, I PRed by 5 minutes. (2018 Revel Big Bear: 4:17, 2018 LA Marathon: 4:22)

    4. How would you describe the course?

      It was beautiful. Deceptively difficult.

wish there wasn't an uphill at mile 25.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I would work more on decelaration training and strengthening my smaller stabilizer muscles better. I found the banks/turns on the upper portion with all the switch banks to be difficult on my hips.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train downhill running to get your legs used to that type of pressure. Staying close to the location of the bus pick up was great.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Not much. came into the area, ate dinner, slept and then raced.

    2. Describe your race day.

Perfect! Weather, logistics, and the course were incredible!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! I took down my PR in the marathon of 3:16 from two years ago and finished in 3:07! I qualified for Boston as well!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The hills in the beginning were tough, but the second half of the race was extremely FAST

    5. Tell us about your training.

I trained for 15 weeks. I included strength training to get ready for the downhills. Ran tempo and speed workouts too.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Be prepared for the first few miles to be slow. It does help you warm up though!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Visited Big Bear Lake and City. It is such a beautiful place!
