    2. Describe your race day.

The half marathon had great course support and although it's billed as "downhill" be prepared for some challenging inclines that make the run worth the effort. I'll be back next year for sure.

    3. Did you PR?

      Yes.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Challenging but extremely scenic. Worth the run, especially for the cost.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I'm never not training so there was no specific plan. I enjoyed the run and got a kick ass medal.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Bring your Mylar blanket to the start. It wasn't horribly cold but when the wind picked up, it made me wish that I would have brought mine.

    2. Describe your race day.

Seamless. Buses were on time, facilities and aid stations were well dispersed, and I had a phenomenal time at the end. Very well done!

Most memorable was learning my half-marathon teammates all organically paced and pushed each other. I'm so proud of them.

    3. Did you PR?

My first full marathon! Didn't qualify, but wasn't aiming to. I got under 4 hours and I'm damn proud of that.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Tough. Downhills were rough on the ankles, especially at the grade of the first half, but it was indeed beautiful. Scenery was amazing and the temperature held off. I was very happy by the course.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I think I trained well. I probably need to do another long run if I want to beat my time, but I'm also very happy to have done as well as I did for my first. My advice? Go easy on the early downhill - plenty of race after that.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

As cold as it is at the very top, it warms up very quickly. Also, train the downhill run, and be sure you're ready for that stress on your feet.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Before, we stayed the night and enjoyed good Arcadia Italian food! We had to leave soon after, but we had a blast. Coming from Santa Monica was a breeze and it was a great way to see this corner of LA.

    2. Describe your race day.

The race is well organized. It was my daughter's (Samantha Santiago) first half and super thrilled to have ran with her..

    3. Did you PR?

No i didn't... Just ran it with my daughter as her first marathon

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was AMAZING! Loved it! Love the mountain views...

    5. Tell us about your training.

Honestly speaking, I did not train well this year... I went on a 10 Europe vacation this month and that threw me off on my practice days...I usually run about 5 miles 3x a week, and go to the gym 6 days a week for strength.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

just enjoy the view, keep consistency going, don't get distracted with other runners passing you by...

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

At 3 miles, i was missing my daughter behind me, so went back and picked her up at 2ml...
I live in Rancho Cucamonga, CA

    2. Describe your race day.

Top notch logistics... from the buses up the mountain, to the volunteers and all the aid stations along the way. Truly a memorable experience, thank you! One small thing... very minor, but at the start when the bus brings us up, possibly have more bonfires going for heat?

    3. Did you PR?

      First race!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Very hard. Even though it was downhill, it was still hard on the knees

    5. Tell us about your training.

      Would've done more downhill

    2. Describe your race day.

Revel, once you again you gave us a great experience. The buses were well organized and top-notch. There were plenty of Porta potty's this year and little waiting. The inspirational signs were great and helped many runners.

    3. Did you PR?

I did not PR, however, I had an amazing race. I qualified for Boston again with your course.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The grade of the road is very steep and very beautiful. If one knows how to run it there is a PR or a Boston qualifier at the end of it.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Training advice-go away slower than you think at the beginning and save some for the end.

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Nothing because I live in the area.

Great! I PR'd for the Half Marathon. The course is great. 3rd time running Revel Canyon City.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! Course PR by 7 min

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Awesome!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I run a lot, and recently BQ'd at Mountains 2 Beach

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Do a preview run if you can and get to know the hills. Even though it's downhill, there are a couple of good hills :)

    2. Describe your race day.

Up super early, caught the bus, hit the porta potties a few times (nice job having so many and enough tp and hand sanitizer), ran, the finish area was a little lacking, drove 8 hours to a soccer tournament. Watching my husband throw up next to the car was a pretty funny memory.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes, by about 9 minutes. I qualified for Boston again, but this time for the men's time in my age group! Oh, and I am a female!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Fast, downhill course for the first half and less steep second half, cruel hill at the end. It was beautiful.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Many miles and lots of speed work. Downhill runs on my long days every few weeks. Speed work is the key to running faster. Yes, it hurts, but do it anyway. Also try to avoid appendicitis 2 months prior to the race, it kills the training for a couple of weeks.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Tube socks with the toe cut out are great arm warmers for the start and easy to peel off and toss when it warms up. Be sure to clip your toenails the day before so they don't fall off later.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Travelled from Bishop, CA, but had no time to play. We had to get to our children's soccer tournament in Carson City, NV to referee games all day on Sunday.

    2. Describe your race day.

Woke up at 3:30 am, took an Uber from Pasadena, CA to the bus pick-up area. There were lines of buses just waiting for runners to hop on. The bus ride up was pleasant because you got a full preview of the course and it was just crazy how high up you go. At the starting area, there were plenty of porta-potties and even a campsite convenience store where you can purchase food or gear. The free gloves and blanket definitely came in handy. The course was fast and there were several surprising hills. The medals were huge and all of the volunteers made baggage claim a breeze. Great race and well organized!

    3. Did you PR?

I did PR and BQ! This was my second marathon ever and I ran a 2:56:40!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The scenery was amazing! Throughout the entire race I would look to my left or right and check out the vast landscape. The majority of the first half of the marathon was downhill. I was able to effortlessly maintain 6 minutes/mile for the first 13 miles. However, this slope made me constantly pound my feet since I was not used to running downhill. The second half of the course was more challenging. The course elevation map can be deceiving since the scale is so huge, but there were several long hills which I did not expect. Overall this is a very fast course.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I did not do any special training, averaged only 30 miles per week. Looking back I wish I did more downhill training because my quads were extremely sore for the next 2 days.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Take advantage of the steep first half. It will help make up for the lost time on the hills.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I was way too sore after the race and could barely walk so I just stayed near the finish and cheered on the rest of the runners.

Congrats on your time. That's awesome. I'm running the race this Nov and I wanted to ask you more about the busing. I'm fine going up high but not fine with speeding buses or Steep drops on either side. I wish I could drive myself up there!

    2. Herb
      Nov. 7, 2016, 11:02 a.m.

The buses drive fairly slow. There are not sheer drop offs on the side. Lots of shoulder room so you won't feel like you are dangling over the edge. Don't forget to look up and smile during your run! The pictures are free and the views are amazing.
