Parking was tough. We waited 20 minutes to enter the parking lot. After we parked, it was smooth sailing to the waiting buses and starting line.

    3. Did you PR?

Not this time. Could not beat my time from last year.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful! Well marked with lots of aid stations along the way.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I have been running a half a month and recently started training for the LA Marathon. Lots of running!!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Of all the races I have run, this is in my top 5! Well organized, beautiful course, lots of support, and pie after you cross the finish line. Overall very good!!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Flappy Jack's for an amazing breakfast!

    2. Describe your race day.

Race day was great. The volunteers were amazing. The busing was very well organized. My only very large complaint for the second year in a row was not having the National Anthem at the start line. This is the only reason I am giving you 4 stars instead of 5. Shame on you Revel Canyon.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! Last year on the full and this year on the half.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Absolutely beautiful!

    5. Tell us about your training.

      Trained for hills and altitude.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train the up hills. The downhill takes care of itself... ...just slow it down a bit on the steel slopes.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      Eat of course!

It surprised me too that we didn't have the National anthe. I was in front of the starting line and all of the sudden some lady came in running and counting down and she said GO! 99% of the people weren't ready!

    2. Describe your race day.

Being with all those runners up on the mountains anxiously waiting for the start of the race made my morning, then running through the beautiful scenery made the run pleasant and a breathtaking experience.

    3. Did you PR?

I wasn't going for a PR this was my first Marathon ever the goal was to finish it, and I did! Best feeling ever!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful, natural, great alone time... The first half all downhill, last half ouch!

    5. Tell us about your training.

75%of my training was done in a treadmill--bad idea...the other 25% outdoors. I would definitely train differently the next time I decide to do this..and train in a downhill course, A LOT!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Pace yourself.. The first half of the course hours pretty fast and you can burn out pretty quick if you don't pace yourself..

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I'm kind of local, so I was here for the race and then back to go rest..

    2. Describe your race day.

You had well prepared logistics with enough water, soft drinks and energy gel.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes, I did. I was 7 minutes shy of BQ from Fresno couple years ago. I reduced to 5minutes this time. If I had not have the leg cramps after 20 miles I would have succeeded this time.

    4. How would you describe the course?

This was easiest down hill I have ever run.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I ran over 10 miles daily whole month but I ran only 2 times up to 20 miles. I should have tried at least over 23 miles once or twice before the real marathon.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

If you can run 26 miles every day during the practice, you won't have cramp problem at all.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I car pooled from Irvine 3:30 in the morning with our running club members.

    2. Describe your race day.

The race was well organized and every aspect of the race was excellent: great course, the best volunteers, post race events were good, and great weather. I had a good race day and will definitely run the marathon again next year. The course is challenging and I'll prepare better for it next time!

    3. Did you PR?

I did not PR and missed it by 4 minutes. I did not qualify for Boston and missed that by 23 minutes. Each of these factors cause me to want to run the race again next year because I just need to run a smarter race that is geared for this course. Additionally, I need to train with this course in mind.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Challenging!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I trained on the course three times by running from the start to the halfway point, from the start to the 18 mile point, and from the halfway point to the finish. Knowing the course and the hills in the second half worked well. I need to pay more attention to how to manage the slope of the pavement throughout the course and in particular the second half. Last year, I ran the first half and did a better job of course management. I think that is the key to setting a PR on this course. Mental preparation and getting into the flow of this course will be something I will focus on next year.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

See my comments above about running this course. This course could be really fast if managed well during training and on race day.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Before the race, I spent time with my family and friends. After the race, relaxed in a cold pool and then a jucuzzi before watching college football.

    2. Describe your race day.

Beautiful course, easy simple information to follow, and I appreciated already having emergency contact info preprinted back of bib. Very organized event and I am sure it will grow in popularity in years to come.

    3. Did you PR?

Unfortunately I did not PR or BQ due to not specifically training for downhill running but certainly will do next year!

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Scenic and challenging.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I trained too much on flats. My friends who did well made trips to train on the downhill.

    2. Describe your race day.

From the expo to the finish line the race was a perfect experiance. Very well organized. The only slight issue was with drop bags. At the finish they were not in a secure enclosure, they were right next to the public sidewalk. I was tired so asked my partner to find mine, he did so easilly, however as no one asked to see a bib, any member of the public could have walked past and taken any bag they wanted. A closed area with several volunteers would resolve that problem in the future.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes I did PR by 21 minutes.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The grade was not too steep to make running difficult. There were not too many runners to make overtaking difficult. The scenery was beautiful and the police did a great Job of traffic control.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I would need to be better prepared for the last 3-4 miles. Without the advantage of generous downhill, fatigue hits you fast on the last section. Practicing running on tired legs could have helped with that.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

The start can be freezing, so come prepared for that. Also try and pace yourself to have energy left for the final flat section of the cource.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

It was too cold to do anything fun before the race.....after the race, I got a bottle of water, a cold cloth and headed for home.

I traveled 40 miles from Redondo Beach
